RESOLUTION TO APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 FROM NELSON
ELECTRIC CO. FOR THE 2023 CITY PARKS LIGHTING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council of Fairfax, Iowa has contracted with Nelson Electric Co.
for the 2023 City Parks Lighting project; and
WHEREAS, Hall & Hall Engineers has recommended approval of Change Order No.
2 for pulling two additional wires to the Complex sign lights, with an additional cost of
$1,525.30.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Iowa, to approve Change Order No. 2 from Nelson Electric for an additional cost of $1,525.30.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Fairfax City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Iowa, that the Mayor and City Clerk/Treasurer are hereby authorized and directed to execute
said resolution.

C.O. ITEM: Pull two additional wires to Complex sign lights
Under the current design, the Complex sign lights (SG fixtures) would remain on 24/7 since they do not have
integral control. In order to change the sequence of operation and have the lights controlled by the time
clock (on at dusk and off at dawn each day), then two additional #10 wires need to be pulled from the
handhole south of the Vets Memorial out to the sign lights.
Refer to attached Change Order Request received from Nelson Electric for details of the cost increase.
The total Change Order 2 amount is $1,525.30.

RECOMMENDATION:
Change control sequence of SG fixtures to match SF fixtures.
RESPONSE:
Agree with the recommendation. There is no integral control on those SG fixtures, so they would ON 24/7
under the current design. Requires the pulling of additional (2) #10 wire from handhole at south of the
Veterans memorial out to the new sign lights.
