RESOLUTION TO APPROVE CHANGE ORDER NO. 5 FROM NELSON
ELECTRIC CO. FOR THE 2023 CITY PARKS LIGHTING PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City Council of Faii•fax, Iowa has contracted with Nelson Electric Co.
fot� the 2023 City Parks Lighting project; and
WHEREAS, Hall & Hall Engineers has recoininended approval of Change Order No.
5 for re�aii•ing and rerouting an existing storm pipe to avoid a new light pole base at the
Complex, with an additional cost of $732.84.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by tlle City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Iowa, to approve Change Order No. 5 fi•om Nelson Electric for an additional cost of $732.84.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Fairfax City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Iowa, that the Mayor and City Clerk/Treasurer are hereby authorized and directed to execute
said resolution.

C.O. ITEM: Repairing and rerouting existing storm pipe
An existing 8" storm pipe at the Complex was found to be in conflict with a proposed light pole base. The
pole base is required to be buried 4 feet deep. The depth of the existing storm pipe was found to be 3.5
feet. The proposed pole location could not be moved to avoid the storm pipe. Moving the pole base away
from the storm pipe would have resulted in a conflict with either the existing sidewalk or existing water main.
Therefore, the only option was to maintain the proposed pole base location and reroute the storm pipe
around it.
Refer to attached Change Order Request received from Nelson Electric.
The total Change Order 5 amount is $732.84.
