RESOLUTION SETTING TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING FOR
THE PURPOSE OF CONSIDERING THE MAXIMUM TAX DOLLARS FROM
CERTAIN LEVIES FOR THE CITY'S PROPOSED FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023
BUDGET
WHEREAS, the City Council of Fairfax, Iowa is preparing the annual budget foi-
the Fiscal Year 2022-2023; aud
WHEREAS, Iowa SF 634 requires a public hearing on the proposed maxi�nuin
property tax dollars fi-oin certain levies where any resident or taxpayer of the City may
present to the City Council objections or arguments in favor of the tax dollars before the
budget is adopted and certified to the county auditor; and
WHEREAS, interested residents or taxpayers having comments for or against the
inaxiinum property tax dollar proposal from certain levies may call 425-436-6370 into the
meetiilg via a conference call with access code of 759797 or attend the city council meeting
on February 8, 2022, at 6:00 PM at the Fairfax City Hall, at 300 80`�' Street Court, Fairfax,
Iowa.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Iowa, that this confirms that the city council order the publication of a notice of
public hearing pertaining to proposed maximum property tax dollars froin certain levies
not less than ten (10) days nor more than twenty (20) days prior to the date set for the
hearing. A notice shall also be posted on the city website and social media accounts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Fairfax City Council of the City of
Fairfax, Iowa, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute
said resolution.

At the public hearing any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of the proposed tax levy. After adoption of the proposed tax levy, the City
Council will publish notice and hold a hearing on the proposed city budget.

Explanation of significant increases in the budget:
The per thousand levy is staying at $8.10. The increase in tax dollars is due to growth in the ta�cable valuations total. Fairfax has experienced residential as well as
commerciaVindustrial growth. W�[h growth comes more area and residents to provide services to. Expcnses inerease because of projects, growth, and the economy.

**Budget year effective property ta�c rate is the rate that would be assessed for these levies if the dollars requested is not changed in the coming budget year
