RESOLUTION NO. 2020-23 RESOLUTION APPROVING CITY OF FAIRFAX'S ANNUAL BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021 WHEREAS, The Code of Iowa, Chapter 384, Section 16, requires that all cities prepare and adopt an annual budget of expenditures and receipts for at least the next fiscal year; and WHEREAS, The Clerk shall certify the necessary tax levy for the next fiscal year to the County Auditor; and WHEREAS, the Notice of Public Hearing Budget Estimate was published on February 26, 2020; and WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Council did hold a public hearing concerning the budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year on March 10, 2020; and WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Council, after hearing all taxpayers wishing to be heard and considering the statements made by them, gave final consideration to the proposed budget and any modifications proposed at the hearing. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa that they do hereby approve the budget for the 2020-2021 fiscal year as attached in the budget forms. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of Fairfax, Iowa that the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute this resolution. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of Fairfax, Iowa that the City Clerk is directed to submit these forms to the Linn County Auditor on or before March 31, 2020. With this growth,we have a larger area and more residents that need services. If applicable, the above notice also available online at: City of Fairfax website: www.cityoffairfax.org *Total city tax rate will also include voted general fund levy,debt service levy,and capital improvement reserve levy **Budget year effective property tax rate is the rate that would be assessed for these levies if the dollars requested is not changed in the coming budget year RESOLUTION NO. 2020-12 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE MAXIMUM TAX DOLLARS FROM CERTAIN LEVIES FOR THE CITY'S PROPOSED FISCAL YEAR 2020-2021 BUDGET WHEREAS, the City Council of Fairfax, Iowa is preparing the annual budget for the Fiscal Year 2020-2021; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fairfax has considered the proposed FY21 city maximum property tax dollars for the affected levy total; and WHEREAS, a notice concerning the proposed city maximum property tax dollars was published and posted on the city web site and social media accounts as required; and WHEREAS, a public hearing concerning the city maximum property tax dollars for the affected levy total was held at the city council meeting on February 18, 2020, at 6:00 PM at the Fairfax City Hall, at 300 80th Street Court, Fairfax, Iowa. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa, that the maximum property tax dollars for the affected tax levies for FY21 shall not exceed $861,601, which represents more than 102% from the maximum property tax dollars requested for FY20 from the affected levies.
