A RESOLUTION TO AUTORIZE EMBARGO TO BE PLACED ON
CERTAIN CITY OF FAIRFAX STREETS
WHEREAS, the City of Cedar Rapids and the IDOT have large street projects happening
on Highway 151, starting in March of 2020; and
WHEREAS, portions of Highway 151 will be closed or have reduced lanes during the
construction with an official detour directing non-local traffic around Fairfax; and
WHEREAS,the City of Fairfax anticipates additional traffic on certain city streets during
this construction; and
WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Council has the power to place an embargo on city streets
due to street conditions and the City Council wishes to have the Mayor and/or Public Works
Supervisor monitor the traffic and post signs to embargo streets as needed during this construction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Fairfax, Iowa,that they place an embargo of no more than five tons on vehicles on City of Fairfax
streets as needed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,by the Fairfax City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa,
that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby directed to certify this resolution of approval.
