Add 3" of choker stone over laydown area to stabilize the surface. Original Contract Amount: $ 1,103,500.00 C.0 #1 $6.347.85 Revised Contract Amount: $1;100,847.85 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa,to approve Change Order No. 1 from Preload, LLC for the 2020 At-Grade Water Storage Tank Improvements project for an additional $6,347.85 making the contract amount $1,109,847.85. CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 PROJECT: 2020 At-Grade Water Storage Tank Improvements DATE: May 13, 2020 CONTRACTOR: Preload, LLC ORIGINAL CONTRACT AMOUNT: $ 1,103,500.00 CONTRACT COMPLETION DATE: August 21,2020 ITEM#1: Add 3"of choker stone over laydown area. The laydown area was surfaced with clean Macadam Stone. The clean Macadam Stone contains little to no fine aggregates to help lock the stone in place and provide a stable surface. This has caused issues getting construction traffic in and out of the site, due to rutting and displacement of the clean stone when driven on. A layer of choker aggregate, which contains fine aggregates, needs to be added to stabilize the surface. The contract documents called out"Macadam Stone"to be used on the laydown area. There was misunderstanding by the Contractor on the type and gradations of Macadam Stone to use. However, Hall &Hall agrees that the call-out in the contract documents could have been more specific. Compensation for the extra work is recommended. The attached Change Order Request submitted by the Contractor provides a detailed price breakdown for adding the 3"layer of choker stone. The total Change Order 1 amount is$6,347.85. There will be no additional working days granted for these work changes.
