RESOLUTION OUTLINING FAIRFAX'S SUPPORT OF THE OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN
SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is aware of the closing of the Duane Arnold Energy Center and its
future ability to not provide outdoor warning siren system services throughout Linn County including the City
of Fairfax, and
WHEREAS, the Duane Arnold Energy Center provided such service at no cost for the City of Fairfax;
the City of Fairfax recognizes the outdoor warning siren system service is vital to the safety of our residents and
identifies public safety as a high priority, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax's preference is for our Linn County Emergency management agency to
provide the continued outdoor warning siren system service, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax demonstrates its desire to work with surrounding communities and the
Linn County Emergency Management Agency to continuing support for the Outdoor Warning Siren System in
Linn County, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax shall work jointly with metro communities to create a plan for the
Outdoor Warning Siren System to be transitioned and maintained by the Linn County Emergency Management
Agency to benefit all citizens of Linn County, and
WHEREAS, the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department has a vision of the City of Fairfax as a Safe Place
to Live, Work and Play, and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFAX,
IOWA, to show support for the Linn County Emergency Management Agency to take ownership and
management of the Outdoor Warning Siren System after the closure of the Duane Arnold Energy Center to
provide such service.
