A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE PERCENTAGE (OR AMOUNT) OF LOCAL
SALES AND SERVICES TAX REVENUES TO RE DEVOTED TO PROPERTY TAX
RELIEF IN THE EVENT SUCH TAX IS IMPOSED LN THE CITY OF FAIRFAX,
:AND DESIGNATING THE PROPOSED USE OF THE REMAINDER OF SUCH REVENUES.
WHEREAS, at the request of the City Council of the City of Cedar
Rapids, Iowa an election will be held throughout Linn County
on November 5 , 1985, upon the question of the imposition of a
local sales and services tax in the incorporated and unincorporated
areas of Linn, Countyi and
WHEREAS , the legislation authorizing imposition of the tax
also allows other jurisdicitions wherein the tax would be Imposed
to individually designate what percentage, or amount of local sales
tax and services tax revenues each will devote to property tax
relief, and what uses it will put the remainder of said tax revenue
to; and
WHEREAS , this City Council. hasbeen advised and does believe
th ..t it would be in the best interests 9f this City to make a
deGignation as to property tax re). ief and use of remaining local
sales and services tai: revenue; -
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT :tESOLVED
BY THE CITE" COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FAIRFAX, IOWA
That revenues from a local sales and services tax which may be
it,iposed in this City on and as of January 1 ,, 1986 , shall be
allocated as follows :
1 . 65 l for property tax relief
2 . The specific purposes for which the revenues
shall oche-^wise be expended. are .
20% later and Se_we Funds .
1.5% General Funds_---.�
AND RE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,
Thar the City Clerk be and is hereby iiaetructed to deliver this
Resolution to the Linn County commissioner of Elections without
delay .
