DENY REZONING OF PROPERTY
WHEREAS, SCOTT LARSON, OWNER OF LOTS 1, 2, 4, AND 5, KARAL'S
THIRD ADDITION TO THE CITY OF FAIRFAX, LINN COUNTY, IOWA, submitted an
application and site plan to rezone from C2 (Highway Commercial District) to M1 (Light
Industrial); and,
WHEREAS, the City Planning and ,Zoning Commission, Fairfax, Iowa met on
November 11, 2002 and made a recommendation to the City Council to deny rezoning of this
property; and,
WHEREAS, the Commission felt that the description of MI zoning did not fit with the
intent of the Comprehensive Plan (1999) of the City of Fairfax for that area (Residential) and
although the current use intended by Mr. Larson might not be a problem, future use under M1
zoning could be a problem and not a good fit for the intended zoning for that area; and,
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Fairfax,Iowa,has denied the rezoning based
on the recommendation from the City Planning and Zoning Commission; and,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,
Iowa, the Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby directed to certify this resolution.
