RESOLUTION SETTING PUBLIC HEARING FOR PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS,
FORM OF CONTRACT, AND ESTIMATED COST AND SETTING THE DATE AND
TIME TO RECEIVE BIDS FOR PHASE 1 — EAST CEMETERY ROAD
RECONSTRUCTION, DRAINAGE, STORM SEWER, WATER MAIN, AND SANITARY
SEWER IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has received two requests to make water and sewer
services available to properties in the East Cemetery Road area, specifically from Casey's
General Stores and Eastern Iowa Buildings; and
WHEREAS, making the water and sewer services available to these properties will
allow them to build new commercial buildings within the City of Fairfax which will add to the
tax base; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax wishes to make drainage and street improvements to this
area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax has instructed Hall and Hall Engineers, Inc. to proceed
with the plans for the East Cemetery Road Reconstruction, Drainage, Storm Sewer, Water Main,
and Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is required to have a public hearing on the plans and
specifications, form of contract, and opinion of estimated cost of the East Cemetery Road
Reconstruction, Drainage, Storm Sewer, Water Main, and Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the public hearing for the plans and
specifications, form of contract, and estimated cost for the East Cemetery Road Reconstruction,
Drainage, Storm Sewer, Water Main, and Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project shall be held at
the city council meeting on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at 6:00 PM at the Fairfax City Hall at 525
Vanderbilt Street.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa, that
bids shall be received on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the office of the City Clerk for
the East Cemetery Road Reconstruction, Drainage, Storm Sewer, Water Main, and Sanitary
Sewer Improvements Project; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa, that
the Mayor and City Clerk/Treasurer are hereby authorized and directed to execute said
Resolution.
