RESOLI TION TO APPROVE SIGN PERMIT FEE
WHEREAS, Section 168.06, Paragraph 2. of the Code of Ordinances for the City
of Fairfax, Iowa, states: 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to erect, alter
structurally or relocate within.the City of Fairfax any sign as herein defined without first
obtaining a permit from the building official.; and
WHEREAS, Section 168.06, Paragraph 3. of the Code of Ordinances for the City
of Fairfax, Iowa, states: 3. Every applicant before being, granted a permit hereunder
shall pay the permit fee, as determined by Resolution of the City Council, for each such
sign or other advertising structure. Any applicant who erects, alters structurally, or
relocates an sign within the City of Fairfax without first submitting a sign permit
application with all required ;supporting documentation, paying the appropriate sign
permit application fee, receiving approval from the Fairfax City Council, and receiving a
sign permit issued by the building official shall be subject to have any applicable fees
being doubled.; and
WHEREAS, Section 169.06, Paragraph 5. of the Code of Ordinances for the City
of Fairfax, Iowa, states: Application for permits will be brought before the Council for
approval based on the recommendations of the building official.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Fairfax in
Linn County, :Iowa, that before any action is taken upon a sign application, as provided
by the Chapter 168, Sign Regulations, of the Code of Ordinances for the City of Fairfax,
Iowa, the applicant shall pay to the City of Fairfax: a non-refundable fee of $3.00 per
square foot for each sign.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any time a sign is erected, altered
structurally, or relocated within the City of Fairfax before submitting a sign application and
receiving approval from the Fairfax City Council, any applicable sign permit fees shall be
doubled.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa
that the Mayor and the City Cleric/Treasurer are hereby authorized and directed to execute
said resolution.
