HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTION NO. 2017-95 RESOLUTION NO. 2017-95 A RESOLUTION TO CONSIDER PLAN TO BE PRESENTED TO LINN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS REGARDING TAX LIEN AT 510 CHURCH STREET WHEREAS, the City of Fairfax is pursuing a plan to remove the tax lien held by Linn County Treasurers Office; and WHEREAS, in order to establish a new residential home at 510 Church Street; and WHEREAS, removal of Linn County's tax lien would clear the way for sale of the property to a contractor in which said contractor could offer a new home on the market; and WHEREAS, currently these tax liens encumber the property and taxes continue to remain unpaid and in arrears; and WHEREAS, two possible plans are presented, in which council is asked to choose the most fitting for the community; and WHEREAS, it is in the City of Fairfax's best interest to return the taxpayer dollars that have been invested into this property and return all maintenance and expenses to a private entity. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa, present a plan from private contractor Costigan Construction to Linn County Board of Supervisors for approval. If approved the City of Fairfax would then grant a contract, consistent with the plan presented, to purchase the property commonly known as 510 Church Street, legal description of Lot 6, Block 5, Vanderbilt, Linn County, Iowa, free and clear of all tax liens and debt. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk/Treasurer are hereby authorized and directed to execute said resolution. Passed and approved this 10' day of November, 2017.
