A RESOLUTION SETTING FEES FOR BUILDING DEMOLITION
INSPECTIONS AND UTITITY DISCONNECTIONS
WHEREAS, the City Council of Fairfax has the power to set fees for demolition site
inspections; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Fairfax shall attempt to recover costs of employees time
doing said inspections and utility disconnection verification within Fairfax; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to set demolition inspection fees as follows for
partial or complete demolition of a structure within the City of Fairfax:
1. Single Family structures ........................$50
2. Multi Family Structures ............................$75
3. Commercial and Industrial Structures ........$100
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Fairfax City Council does hereby
order demolition inspection fees to be fifty($50.00)dollars for a single family residential structure;
fees to be seventy five (75.00) dollars for a multi-family structure; fees to be one hundred dollars
($100.00) for a commercial or industrial structure.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Fairfax City Council hereby instructs staff to
collect fees at the time of application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,no demolition of any structure within Fairfax city limits
shall commence prior to city staff inspecting the sanitary sewer service disconnect, water service
disconnect at the corporation, gas service disconnection, electrical service disconnection and
asbestos abatement by a certified contractor.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa, that
the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby directed to certify this resolution.
