A RESOLUTION TO ESTABLISH A PUBLIC
PURPOSE FOR CERTAIN PURCHASES
WHEREAS,it has been noted in the annual audit for years that certain purchases may be questionable;
and
WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Council has been informed about these purchases and finds them
appropriate; and
WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Councils wishes to formally list these types of purchases and formalize
their approval of the same.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Fairfax,Fairfax,Iowa,
that they do hereby support the following types of purchases as having a public purpose and authorize the
ongoing policy for such purchases.
1. Food and non-alcoholic drinks at Fairfax Fire Department monthly meetings for the fire
department members.
2. Food and non-alcoholic drinks at a Fairfax Fire Department annual meal for fire department
members and their guests.
3. Food and non-alcoholic drinks at an emergency response site for the responding members of
the Fairfax Fire Department, when time spent or conditions make it necessary for health or
safety.
4. Food and non-alcoholic drinks at an emergency response site for the responding members of
another fire department giving mutual aid in the Fairfax Fire Department's fire district, when
time spent or conditions make it necessary for health or safety.
5. Non-alcoholic drinks at the Fairfax Maintenance Shop and Fairfax City Hall for staff, elected
officials, and guests.
6. Food and non-alcoholic drinks at City of Fairfax staff training sessions.
7. Food and non-alcoholic drinks during inventory at the Fairfax Public Library for staff and
volunteers.
8. Food and non-alcoholic drinks for volunteer crews.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Fairfax City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa, that the
Mayor and City Clerk are hereby directed to certify this resolution of approval.
