RESOLUTION APPROVING WAGES FOR CITY EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, during the December 11, 2018, city council meeting, the City Council reviewed employee
current wage rates and established the following wages effective January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019
which have a 1.9% increase for non-library and non-fire department employee pay; and
WHEREAS, during the December 11, 2018 city council meeting, the City Council established an
additional hourly rate increase of 50 cents for Iowa Certified SWPPP Inspector for Lynn Miller and Brian Merta
effective October 10, 2018 and an additional hourly rate increase of 50 cents for Iowa Certified SWPPP
Installer for Lynn Miller effective 12-11-18; and
WHEREAS, Brian Merta has achieved Drinking Water Distribution 2 Operator and Drinking Water
Treatment 2 certifications as of March 18, 2019 and Waste Water Treatment 2 Operator certification as of April
4, 2019 and Tyler Bauer has achieved Waste Water Treatment 1 Operator certification as of March 11, 2019
each with a 50 cents per hour increase; and
WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Council has hired Jace Merta and Nicholas Kremer as part-time seasonal
maintenance employees on June 11, 2019; and
WHEREAS, the Library Board of Trustees established wages effective January 1, 2019 through
December 31, 2019 for the library employees during their meeting on January 3, 2019; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,the wages were set for each employee as follows:
Kevin Stensland, W/WW Supervisor $36.77 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Chris Philipp, Building Department Official $30.99 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Cynthia Stimson, City Clerk/Treasurer $28.15 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Lynn Miller, Public Works Supervisor $27.99 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Brian Merta, Public Works II $24.72 per hour, effective March 18, 2019
Brian Merta, Public Works II $25.22 per hour, effective April 4, 2019
Tyler Bauer, Public Works I $20.37 per hour, effective March 11, 2019
Kim Donaldson, Deputy City Clerk/Treasurer $17.73 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Kathy Everett, Deputy City Clerk- Utilities $17.52 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Michael Rammelsberg, Public Works I $16.18 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
William Barry, Part-time Seasonal $13.63 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Brian Stallman, Part-time Seasonal $13.63 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Jace Merta, Part-time Seasonal $12.00 per hour, effective June 12, 2019
Nicholas Kremer, Part-time Seasonal $12.00 per hour, effective June 12, 2019
Cathy Bayne, Library Director $23.34 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Beth Wilz, Librarian Assistant $16.67 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Joel Barnhart, Librarian Assistant $15.00 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Shannon Chapman, Library Janitor $13.90 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Shannon Chapman, Library Assistant $12.00 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Kathleen Patterson, Library Assistant $12.00 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Michael Sankot, Fire Chief $2,000 per year salary, plus $5.00 per call
EMS Fire Department Officer $500.00 per year salary, plus $5.00 per call
State Reporting Fire Department Officer $500.00 per year salary, plus $5.00 per call
Other Fire Department Officers $100.00 per year salary, plus $5.00 per call
Fire Department Members $5.00 per call
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the city staff is hereby authorized to issue payroll checks and
make all required supporting payroll payments as required per the personnel manual or required by law.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa, that the Mayor and
City Clerk/Treasurer are hereby authorized and directed to execute said Resolution.
