RESOLUTION APPROVING WAGES FOR CITY EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, the Fairfax City Council has hired Joe Kell as the full-time Parks and Recreation Director
effective November 18, 2019; and
WHEREAS, during the December 10, 2019, city council meeting, the City Council reviewed employee
current wage rates and established the following wages effective January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020
which have a 2.00% increase for non-library and non-fire department employee pay and revised their decision
during their December 26, 2019 meeting to not give the 2% increase to the newest employee, Joe Kell; and
WHEREAS, the Library Board of Trustees established wages effective January 1, 2019 through
December 31, 2019 for the library employees during their meeting on January 3, 2019; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,the wages were set for each employee as follows:
Kevin Stensland, W/WW Supervisor $37.51 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Chris Philipp, Building Department Official $31.61 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Cynthia Stimson, City Clerk/Treasurer $28.71 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Lynn Miller, Public Works Supervisor $28.55 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Brian Merta, Public Works II $25.72 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Joe Kell, Parks & Recreation Director $19.50 per hour, effective November 18, 2019
Kim Donaldson, Deputy City Clerk/Treasurer $18.08 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Kathy Everett, Deputy City Clerk - Utilities $17.87 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Michael Rammelsberg, Public Works I $17.50 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
William Barry, Part-time Seasonal $13.90 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Brian Stallman, Part-time Seasonal $13.90 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Jace Merta, Part-time Seasonal $12.24 per hour, effective January 1, 2020
Cathy Bayne, Library Director $23.34 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Beth Wilz, Librarian Assistant $16.67 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Joel Barnhart, Librarian Assistant $15.00 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Shannon Chapman, Library Janitor $13.90 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Shannon Chapman, Library Assistant $12.00 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Kathleen Patterson, Library Assistant $12.00 per hour, effective January 1, 2019
Michael Sankot, Fire Chief $2,000 per year salary, plus $5.00 per call
EMS Fire Department Officer $500.00 per year salary, plus $5.00 per call
State Reporting Fire Department Officer $500.00 per year salary, plus $5.00 per call
Other Fire Department Officers $100.00 per year salary, plus $5.00 per call
Fire Department Members $5.00 per call
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the city staff is hereby authorized to issue payroll checks and
make all required supporting payroll payments as required per the personnel manual or required by law.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Fairfax, Iowa, that the Mayor and
City Clerk/Treasurer are hereby authorized and directed to execute said Resolution.
Passed and approved this 26"' day of December 2019.
