SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
March 26, 2024
A special meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held March 26, 2024 at the Fairfax City
Hall. Mayor Jo Ann Beer called the meeting to order at 6:15 PM. Councilmembers present
were: Tom Nurre, Dan Wozniak, Nick Volk, and Marianne Wainwright. Mike Daly was on the
conference phone.
Motioned by Volk, seconded by Wainwright to approve the consent agenda. Ayes: Nurre,
Daly, Wozniak, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Motioned by Volk, seconded by Nurre to approve RESOLUTION 2024-21, A
RESOLUTION SETTING TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE
PURPOSE OF SOLICITING WRITTEN AND ORAL COMMENTS ON THE CITY'S
PROPOSED FISCAL YEAR 2024-2025 BUDGET. Roll call vote: Ayes: Nurre, Daly,
Wozniak, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried. Mayor Beer declared
RESOLUTION 2024-21 duly adopted.
Discussion was held about the 2024 commercial insurance coverages for the City of Fairfax.
The city clerk/treasurer reviewed the committee's recommendation for Provident. Charlie
Garwood, with Wilson-Hite Insurance, answered some questions about previous claims and
proposed coverages. Discussion was held about changing some deductibles. The vehicle
deductions are all to be made $2,000. The building deductions will be $10,000. The sewer
back-up coverage of $100,000 with a$10,000 deductible will be added. This makes the quote
$150,806.00.
Motioned by Nurre, seconded by Wainwright to approve RESOLUTION 2024-22, A
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COMMERCIAL INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR THE
CITY OF FAIRFAX. Roll call vote: Ayes: Nurre, Daly, Wozniak, Volk, and Wainwright.
Nays: None. Motion carried. Mayor Beer declared RESOLUTION 2024-22 duly adopted.
Motioned by Volk, seconded by Wainright to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: Nurre, Daly,
Wozniak, Volk, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Motion carried.
Mayor Beer adjourned the meeting at approximately 6:29 PM.
