SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
October 30, 2024
A special meeting of the Fairfax City Council was held October 30, 2024 at the Fairfax City
Hall. Mayor Jo Ann Beer called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. Councilmembers present
were: Tom Nurre, Dan Wozniak, and Marianne Wainwright. Mike Daly was on Zoom. Nick
Volk was absent.
Motioned by Wainwright, seconded by Wozniak to approve the agenda. Ayes: Nurre, Daly,
Wozniak, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Volk. Motion carried.
Motioned by Nurre, seconded by Wozniak to go into closed session according to Iowa Code
21.5 1. i. To evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring,
perfarmance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and
irreparable injury to that individual's reputation and that individual requests a closed session.
Ayes: Nurre, Daly, Wozniak, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Volk. Motion carried.
Motioned by Wozniak, seconded by Wainwright to go back into open session. Ayes: Nurre,
Daly, Wozniak, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Volk. Motion carried.
Discussion was held concerning travel costs for the city administrator candiciates who are
invited for an in-person visit.
Motioned by Wainwright, seconded by Wozniak to authorize up to $500.00 in
reimbursement of documented travel expenses with receipts for any of the city administrator
candidates the City invites and who show-up for an in-person visit. Ayes: Nurre, Daly,
Wozniak, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Volk. Motion carried.
Motioned by Nurre, seconded by Wozniak to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: Nurre, Daly,
Wozniak, and Wainwright. Nays: None. Absent: Volk. Motion carried.
Mayor Beer adjourned the meeting at approximately 9:20 PM.
