Aug. 2, 1937.
NOW, TO-WITS this 2nd day of August, A.D., 1937 at the hour of
7:30 P. M. the Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa met in regular session
with Mayor Behle presiding.
All councilmen were present.
The minutes of the meeting of July 7th and the minutes of the meeting
of July 19th were read and approved.
On motion of councilman Frank Moynihan, seconded by councilman C. E.
Heaton and unanimously carried the following bills were allowed and ordered
paid:
Iowa Electric Light & Power Co. for Street Lights - - - - $3.33
The Gazette Company for publishing budget notice - - - - 9.00
On motion of councilman C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded by councilman
Frank Moynihan and unanimously the Clerk was authorized and instructed to
purchase 300 feet additional 1k inch hose, same quality as original 200
feet, from the Iowa Municipal Supply Company.
Notice of the meeting for hearing on the budget estimate having
been published in the Cedar Rapids Gazette as provided by law and there
being no objections offered it was moved by councilman C. E. Heaton,
Seconded by councilman John Wavra and unanimously carried that the budget
as advertised be adopted.
Mrs Anna Adams having had the abstract of title to the south
75 ft of lot 5 block 2 continued to date and it appeared there were
no objections noticeable to the council, it was moved by councilman
C. E. Heaton, seconded by Councilman C. J. Knikkerbocker and unanimously
carried that the clerk be and is hereby authorized and instructed to
accept a deed from said Mrs Adams to the south 25 feet of said lot
5 block 2 town of Fairfax, said deed to be in the name of the "Town
of Fairfax, Iowa." and may s&Id Mrs Adams the balance of the purchase
price.

For the purpose of record this is to certify that in accordance with
the contract for purchase of the south 25 feet of lot 5, block 2 town
of Fairfax no abstract was furnished to said tract of land. Mrs Adams
had her abstract continued to date and loaned same to the Town Council
for examination.
The clerk reported he had posted several notices asking for bids on
the building located on the above described lot and that no bids were
received. After some discussion it seemed to be the ppinion of
all members present that the best plan was to weeck the building and
use what material was need for construction of the new building.
On motion of councilman C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded by councilman
C. E. Heaton and unani. ously carried the meeting adjourned. Or Of
