M. the Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa met in regular session and in the absence of Mayor Alehle on motion duly made, seconded and carried Councilman Charles J. Knickerbocker was made Temporary Chairment• of the Meeting. Councilmen present were: C. J. Knickerbocker, C. E. Heaton, Chas J. Dvorak, Frank J. Moynihan and John Wavra. The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. WHEREAS: there is need for lights on the streets about the town of Fairfax, and WHEREAS: Certain tax revenue will be available to pay for a limited amount of street lights NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that arrangements be made with the Iowa Electric Light & Power Company of Cedar Rapids, Iowa to erect and in- stall lights on the streets and at street intersections as follows: Street intersection: Main & Vanderbilt, Main & Park, Main & Reynolds, Church & Vanderbilt, Church and Park, Church & Reynolds, Railroad & Vanderbilt, Railroad &Park. At north entrance to Fairfax from Highway 149, on Vanderbilt St. North of C. &. N. W. Ry., On Railroad St. West of Vanderbilt St. about 300 ft., on Main St. West of Vanderbilt St. about 300 ft, on Church St. West of Vanderbilt St. about 300 ft, at the intersection of Church St. and U. S. Highway 149, on Highway 149 about 300 ft South of Church St. and on Highway 149 about 600 feet south of Church St. and Be it further resolved that commencing on, or about, April 10th, Street Lights at the 16 points above mentioned be lighted with 60 watt lamps burning from dusk to midnight. The above resolution was voted on unanimously carried. RESOLVED that a tax of $1.00 be levied against each male and each spayed female dog and a tax of $3.0O be levied against each female dog, said tax being payable to the Town Clerk on or before April 1st, and that a penalty of $1.00 be assessed against each dog if said tax is not paid on or before April 1, 1938. • Motoin on above resolution carried unanimously. Moved, Seconded and unanimously carried that bill of Wm. F. Zamastil "" in the sum of $7.00 for Cleaning culverts and hauling rock to the streets be allowed and paid.
