April 4, 1938.
NOW, TO-WIT, this 4th day of April, A. D., 1938 at the hour of
12:00 o'clock noon, the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa, as
duly elected, assembled for the purpose of organization under the
provisions of Chapter 287 of the Code of Iowa, of 1935, and upon motion
duly made, seconded and carried, this meeting was duly recessed until
until 7:30 o'clock P. M. of this date to re-assemble in the offices of
the Fairfax State Savings Bank in Fairfax, Iowa.
AND NOW, TO-WITH, this 4th day of April, A. D., 1938 at the hour
of 7:30o'clock P. M. the said Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa did
re-assemble, there being present all members of the said council.
Wm. Behle, having been elected mayor of the Town of Fairfax,
Iowa qualified by taking the oath and filing bond in the sum of $500.00.
E. F. Listebarger, Treasurer and C. J. Knickerbocker, C. E. Heaton,
John Wavra, Frank Moynihan and Chas J. Dvorak, councilmen elected were
qualified by taking proper oath.
The minutes of the mertinF of March 7, 1938 and the meeting of
Marc 24, 1938 were read and approved.
The bond of Vayor Wm. Behle in the sum of $500.00 signed by
James Yanecek and Joseph Yanecek was approved.
The mayor announced the following appointments:
For Clerk - - - - J. L. Krall, For Fire Chief, Chas J. Dvorak
For Town Marshall and Street Commissioner, Wm. G. Zamastil.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried the appointments -
as Clerk, Fire Chief, Town Marshall and Street Commissioner were unani-

mously approved.
It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried the the Fairfax
State Savings Bank of Fairfax, Iowa be and is hereby designated depository
for funds of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa and E. F. Listebarger, Treasurer

of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa be and is hereby authorized to deposit funds
of the Town of Fairfax in said Fairfax State Savings Bank in sums totaling
in the aggregate not to exceed $5,000.00.
It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that Councilman
John Wavra be designated Weed Commissioner.
It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that Chas J. Dvorak
and John Wavra be and are hereby designated as a committee with power to
act to arrange for draining of water from the north side of Church
Street in the vicinity of the Public School and St Patricks Church.
The report of Fire Chief, Chas J. ')vorak, was approved.
The Report of E. F. Listebarger, Treasurer, was approved.
The Clerk was authorized and instructed to write to the C. 8c.
N. W. Ry. Division Passenger and Freight Agent and ask that six or
eith car loads of cinders be delivered to Fairfax for use of Streets,
espeeially in the vicinity of the Behle Elevator and Denniston 8c
Partridge Co. Yards.
Application of James Yanecek for Class "B" Beer Permit effective
at expiration of his present permit was approved and the clerk was
authorized to issue said permit upon filing of proper bond and paying
the annual license fee of $100.00.
The Council sitting as a board of Review examined the books
of Assessor, Jamey Yanecek, and approved same.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
