D. , 1940 at the hour of 12;00 o ' clock noon, the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa, as duly elected, assembled for the purpose of organization under the provisions of Chapter 287 of the Code of Iowa, of 1935, and upon motion duly wade , seconded and carried, this meeting was duly recessed until 7 : 50 o ' clock P . M. of this date to re-assemble in the offices of the Fairfax State Savings Bank, Fairfax, Iowa. AND NOh; TO-WIT, this lot day of Aprii, A. D. , 1910, at the hour of 7 : 30 P. M. the said Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa did re-assemble, there being present all members of the said Council . Wm Behle, having been elected mayor of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa qualified by taking the oath and filing bond in the sum of $500. 00, said bond being approved by the Council . E. F. Listebarger, Treasurer and C. J . Knickerbocker, C . E Heaton, John Wavra, Frank Moynihan and Chas J. Dvorak, councilmen elected were qualified by taking proper oath. The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. The Mayor ahnounced the following apDointmentst For Clerk - - - J. L . Krall For Towp Marshall and Street Commissioner- - - Om. G. Zamastil, and for Health Officer, Dr . Robert C. Locher. It was moved, seconded and onanimounly carried that the appointments as made by the Mayor be and are hereby approved. It was Doved by Councilman, Frank Moynihan, seconded by Councilman, C. E. Heaton, and unanimously carried that Chas J. Dvorak be appointed Fire Chief for the ensuing year . .............. April 1, 1940 continued It was moved., seconded and unanimously carried that the Fairfax State Savings Bank of Fairfax, Iowa be and is hereby designated E depository for funds of the Town of Fairfax, and E. F. Listebarger, E I ' Treasurer of the Town. of Fairfax be and is hereby authorized to deposit funds of the Town of Fairfax in said Fairfax State Savings Bark in suds totaling in the aggregate not to exceed 55,000 . 00 It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that Councilman John Wavra be designated Ueed Commissioner . The report of Fire Chief, Chas J . Dvorak, for the past year was approved. The report of Town Treasurer, F. F. Listebarger, for the east year was approved. application of James Yanecek for Class "B" Permit effective for one year from expiration of his present permit, April 21, 1939, was read and approved and the clerk was authorized to issue said permit upon filing of proper bond and paying the annual license fee of $100.00 . The Council sitting as a board of review examined the books of Assessor, James Yaneeek, and approved same. I It was moved by Councilman, C. J . Knickerbocker, Seconded by f Councilman, John Wavra, and una.nijously carried to place "No Parking"" sign at the driveway to the Masonic Hall and the Clerk was authorized to write a. letter to the Secretary of the Masonic Lodge asking the co- operation of all members and visitors in keeping the driveway and Pride drAl to the back of the lodge hall f ee of cars in carder to and exit eliminate, as far as possible, the hazards of ,e,ntry in the event of a fire in that vicinity. April 1, 1040 continued It was moved by Councilman, Frank hoynihan, seconded by Councilman John Wavra and unanimously carried to purchase 200 feet of 2' inch hose for the fire department at the bid an sub- 2 matted by John E. Murphy, also to purchase proper couplings , etc. It was moved by Councilman, C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded by Councilman, Chas A Dvorak, and unanimously carricd that the Councilmen be allowed the statutory fee of $1 . 00 per each meeting they attend and the Mayor be allowed 11. 50 for each meeting he attends for the ensuing two years . It was moved, seconded and unanijously carried that the Council meet at the Fairfax State Savings Bank each first Monday of the month, meetings to be held at 7 . Z0 P.
