Regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax,
Iovra held this 6th day of May , 1940.
The meeting was called to order at 7 : 30 M. by Mayor,
Vim. Behle .
The minutes of the proceeding meeting Were read and
approved.
It was moved by Councilman, C. E. Heaton, Seconded by
Councilman, Frank J. Koy nihan and unanimously carried that 10m.
E. Dvorak be elected Councelman to fill the vacancy caused by
the death of former Councilman, John 4a1avr n, said Ism. E. Dvorak
!, to serve the unexpired term of former Councilman, John Wavra..

It was moved b Councilman, C. J . Knickerbocker, seconded by
by Councilman, C. J. Dvorak, and unanimously carried that the
following resolution be adopted:
WHEREAS, in the exercise of a divine wisdom which surpasses
all human understanding, the Supreme Ruler of the universe has seen
fit to remove from among us our esteemed and beloved associate,
friend, and brother, Councilman, John avra, and to call shim for-
ever from labor to rest, and

KEREpS, henceforth we shall rails his kindly greetings, his
friendly presence, his valued coLinsel and advice, and ;bile we mourn
with his loved ones, his earthly departure, and deeply regret his
final absence, we bow in submission to the will of Him who does
all things wisely and well,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Torn _Council of the Town of
Fairfax, Iowa that vie sincerely regret the passing of our associate,
friend, and brother; that his absence from all future meetings is
a loss which we sincerely feel, that a place, is vacant in our midst
which never can be filled; and ?ve have sustained a loss ,ifhich can
never be restored$ and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that az copy of these Resolutions be

memoriam, and that a copy be sent to the family of him who has �

Moved by Councilman, C. F. Heaton, seconded by Councilman,
G. J . Lnickerbocker, and unanimously carried that the Clerk be and
is authorized and instructed to rene-w Fire Insurance Policy cover-
ing the Fire Truck which policy expires May 17, 1940 .

After consi.derjthc petition it laas moved by Councilman,
G . J. Dvorak Seconded by Councilman, Frank J. Vol-nihan, and
unanimously carried to place the petition on file and that
the Clerk be instructed to notify the xYzapxjKkxxufxtx lessees
of the Boland barn , anal yards that the premises must be kept
clean, free of disagreeable odor and properly disinfected,
and further to inform them that if this is not done more
drastic action will necessarily be taken.
It was moved by Councilman, C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded
by Councilman, C. F. Heaton and unanimously carried to regular
monthly rubbi.ah pickup service be inaugerated, that some date
suitable to 71m. F. Zama,stil be selected for each month in which
the pickup will be rflade, and that the clerk be instructed and
authorized in issue notice to each residence in the town advlsing
teem of the services, date, etc .

the Clerk. X60.00 per year salary.
It was moved by Councilman, Frank J . �oynihan, seconded
by Councilman., Chas J. Dvorak, and nar?i7fiou.317T carried to
pay the Treasurer $12 .00 pez year salary.
So_iie discussion was had rei.ative to changing the corporate
limits at the south and southeast part of town to have the
corporate limits run to the center of the road ins Dead of to
the north edge of the road, and to confer w,,ith the First
District Supervisor regafding the change and the 1oossib7 e
arrangement for care and maintenance of the road to the south
and east of the corporate li ml�s. The Cleric was authorized
to Look into this matter and report at the next regular meeting .
