HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/01/1940 Council Minutes July 1, 1940. Regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa held this 15t day of July, 1940. The meeting was called to order at '7:15 P. M. by Wm._ Behle, Mayor. All councilmen were present . The minutes of the meeting of May 20, 1940 and the minutes of the meeting of May 31St were read and approved. Martin Moynihan and Donald Zamastil appeared before the council requesting permittion to use the streets for the annual Hey-Dey to be held Aug. g, 1940 by the Young dens Club. It was moved by councilman Frank Moynihan, seconded by Councilman C. J. Knickerbocker and unanimously carried to permit the Young Mens Club use of the streets for Hey-Day and that Vanderbilt Street from Church St. to Railroad Street be closed and that Main Street from Frank Barta' s corner to the west be closed. It was moved by Councilman 0. J. Knickerbocker, seconded by councilman Frank Moynihan and carried to Black-Top the streets of the town as per specifications and to grade and gravel. Losey !, road from the intersection at the Railway west . It was moved by councilman C. E. Heaton, Seconded by Councilman Wm. E. Dvorak that the Mayor and Town Clear be and are hereby authorized to sign a contract with the Iowa Road Building Company for the necessary oil for black topping the streets and that the contract be approved 'by three or more councilmen. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded by Councilman Chas J . Dvorak and unanimously carried to fix the budget estimate for the coming year at $1310.00 and that July 22nd, at 7: 30 be fixed as the time for public heariLig on said budget estimate.
