D. ,1944 at the hour of twelve o ' clock noon, the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa, as duly eledted, assembled for the purpose of organization under the provisions of Chapter 287 of the Code of Iowa, of 1935. The Town Clerk, J. L. Krall, administered the oath to Wm. Behle the duly elected mayor. Mayor Wm. Behle administered the oath to C. J. Knickerbocker, C. E. Heaton, Wm. E. Dvorak, Frank Moynihan and Chas J. Dvorak. It was moved, seconded and carried that the meeting recess until 7: 30 P. M. of this date and to re-assemble in the office of the Fairfax State Savings Bank, Fairfax, Iowa. AND NOW TO-WIT: this 3rd day of April. A. D. , 1944 at the hour of 7: 30 P. M. the said Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa did re-assemble, there being present all members of said Council . It was moved by Councilman C. E. Heaton, Secomded by Councilman Frank Moynihan and unanimously carried to approve the Mayors bond of $500.00; said bond being signed by James Yanecek and Chas A. Elson. The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved as read. The Mayor announced the following appointments: For Clerk, J. L. Krall; For Marshall, C. L. McCaughey, for Fire Chief, Chas J. Dvorak. It was moved by Councilman C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded by Councilman Wm. E. Dvorak and unanimously carried to approve the appointments for Clerk, Marshall and Fire Chief as announced by the Mayor. It was moved by Councilman Wm. E. Dvorak, seconded by Councilman C. J. Knickerbocker and unanimously carried that the Fairfax State Savings Bank of Fairfax, Iowa be and is hereby des- ignated depository for funds of the Town of Fairfax and that E. F. Listebarger, treasurer of the Town of Fairfax be and is hereby authorized to deposit funds of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa in said Fairfax State Savings Bank in sums totaling in the aggregate not to exceed $5,000.00. The report of Fire Chief, Chas J. Dvorak, for the past year was approved. The report of Town Treasurer, E. F. Listebarger, for the past year was approved. 1.12 April 3, 1944 continued. The Council sitting as a board of review examined the books of Assessor, James Yanecek, and same were approved. It was moved by Frank Moynihan, seconded by Chas J. Dvorak and unanimously carried that the Council meet regularly on the first Monday of each month at 7: 30 P. M. at the offices of the Fairfax State Savings Bank. It was moved by C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded by C. E. Heaton, and unanimously carried that the clerks salary be fixed at $75.00 per year. It was moved by C. E. Heaton, seconded by C. J. Knickerbocker, and unanimously carried to pay the Mayor $1. 50 per meeting. It was moved by C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded by Wm. E. Dvorak and unanimously carried to pay the treasurer $12.00 per year salary. It was moved by Wm. E. Dvorak, deconded by C. J. Knickerbocker, and unanimously carried to pay the Chief $36.00 per year for care of the fire truck and care of the heating of the fire station. The Mayor appointed the following Councilmen to the Street and Alley committee: C. J. Knickerbocker, Wm. E. Dvorak and C. E. Heaton. The application of James Yanecek for renewal of Beer Bermit was read and it was moved by C. J . Dvorak, seconded by C. J. Knickerbocker and unanimously carried to grant a renewal of same on payment of the usual $100.00 license fee and filing of proper bond. There being no further business it was moved by C. E. Heaton, seconded by Wm. E. Dvorak and unanimously carried to adjourn. /2 -4111111.. Mayor Town Clerk.
