HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/12/1944 Council Minutes 114 July 12, 1944. Meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa held this 12th day of July, 1944. The meeting was called to order at 8 P. M. by the Mayor . Councilmen present were: Frank J. Moynihan, Chas E. He _ton, Chas J. Dvorak and C. J. Knickerbocker. Councilman Wm. E. Dvorak was absent. The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved. Communication from T . J. DeLany regarding the weeds and shrubs growing up along the sideiralk south of his resedence and after some discussion it was moved by Councilman C. E. Heaton, seconded by councilman C.J. Dvorak and unanimously carried that the Clerk and Mayor arrange with someone to cut the weeds and shrubs. The Town Clerk submitted the proposed Town Budget Estimate for the year beginning April 1, 1945 as follows: Consolidated fund $1, 440.00 plus estimated other income of $350.00; Fire maintenance $120.00 and Fire Equipment $60. 00. It was moved by Councilman Chas J . Dvorak, seconded by Councilman Frank Moynihan tnd unanimously carried that We fix the budget estimate as submitted by the Town Clerk and that July 28, 1944, 8 P. M. be fixed as the time of hearing and that The Fairfax State Savings Bank be fixed as the place of hearing on said budget estimate and that the Town Clerk be and is here- by authorized and directed to publish in the Cedar Rapids Gazette notice of said hearing, as providedby statute. It was moved by Councilman C. E. Heaton, Seconded by Councilman Frank Moynihan to transfer all funds now in the General fund to the Consolidated Fund. It was moved by Councilman C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded by Councilman Frank Moynihan that Chas J. Dvorak, Fire Chief, be and is hereby authorized to place and order for purchase of additional fire hose of not to exceed 200 feet. ( Carried) It was moved by Councilman Chas J . Dvorak, Seconded b-y councilman Frank Moynihan and unanimously carried to adjourn. yor . wn Clerk.
