July 28, 1944.
Meeting of the Town Councilof the Town of Fairfax, Iowa
held this 28th day of July, 1944.
The meeting was called to order at 8 P. M. By Mayor,
Wm. Behle.
Councilmen, present: C. J. Knickerbocker, Chas J.
Dvorak, Frank Moynihan and Wm. E. Dvorak.
Councilman absent was C. E. Heaton.
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and
approved.
It was moved by Councilman C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded
by Councilman Chas J. Dvorak and unanimously carried to appoint
the following men to the Fairfax Fire Department: Harold
L. Klingier, Ross Knickerbocker, and Ernest Vasbinder.
It was moved by councilman C. J. Knickerbocker, seconded
by councilman Frank Moynihan and unanimously carried that the
budget as proposed and published in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Gazette be and is hereby adopted; no objections having been
filed and no person appearing to abject to said budget.
It was moved by Frank Moynihan, seconded by C. J .
Knickerbocker and unanimously carried to pay Ethel Odland
X3.00 per calendar month for taking care of r ,.ising and
removing the flag at the flag pole.
It was moved by Frank Moynihan, seconded by Wm. E.
Dvorak and unanimously carried to pay Mrs Chas J. Dvorak
$15.00 for looking the flag raising and lowering for
approximately 5 months last year.
A communication from Wm. E. Dvorak was read calling
attention to the weeds on the C. M. &. St. P. Ry. Co. Right
of Way in the Town limits and it was moved, seconded and
carried that the Town Clerk shall notify the proper parties,
asking that the weeds be cut.
There being no further business it was moved, seconded
and carried to adjourn.
