Meeting of the Town Counil
Meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa
held this 12th day of July, 1946.
The meeting was called to order at 8 P. M. by Mayor
John Lefebure.
Councilmen present: Chas A. Elson, Frank L. Barta
and Chas J. Dvorak.
Councilman absent: C. J. Knickerbocker.
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and
approved.
It was moved by Chas J. Dvorak, Seconded by Fank
L. Barta and Chas A. Elson that John E. Muephy be appointed
to the council to fill the unexpired term of Councilman
Wm. E. Dvorak, deceased. Motion carried unanimously.
John E. Murphy was sworn in and took his place as
councilman.
Carl J. Francois appeared before the council to seek
permission to conduct a show in the town of Fairfax at some
near future date and it was agreed that he be permitted
to do so.
It wqs moved by Chas A. Elson, seconded by Frank L.
Barta that the budget estimate as recommended by J. L. Krall,
Clerk which budget calls for estimated expenditures of $2260.00
to be raised as follows: Consolidated Fund $1,665.00, Fire
Dept. Equipment $65.00, Fire Dept. Maintenance $130.00 and
estimated other income $400.00 be and is hereby recommended
and that Aug. 5th, 1946 at 8 P. M. be the time for hearing
and the Fairfax State Savings Bank be the place of hearing,
and that the Clerk be and is hereby authorized and directed
to have said budget estimate published inthe Cedar Rapids
Gazette. ( carried)
It was moved by John E. Murphy, Seconded by Chas A.
Elson and unanimously carried to pay James Yanecek, Street
Commissioner, $68. 50 in payment dor 68 hours work on the
various streets of Fairfax.
There being no further business it was moved, seconded
and carried to adjourn.
