Aug. 5, 1946
Meeting of the Town Council, of the Town of Fairfax,
Iowa held this 5th day of August, 1946.
The meeting was called to order at 8 P. M. by
Mayor, John Lefebure.
Councilmen present: C. J. Knickerbocker, Frank L.
Barta, Chas A. Elson and John E. Muephy.
Councilman Chas J. Dvorak was absent.
The Minutes of the Preceeding meeting were read
and approved.
Various defective sidewalks were discussed and
it was moved by Councilman C. J. Knickerbocker, Seconded
by Councilman Chas A. Elson and unanimously carried to
Notify Alice and Chester Satterly, owners of the property
known as the drug store, to repair the sidewalk along
the front of their property, and if same was not repaired
to have the town make the necessary repairs and charge
same to said property owners.
The budget as recommended at the meeting held
July 12, 1946 was read, same having been published in
the Cedar Rapids Gazette on July 17, 1946. There being
no objections filed and no taxpyers appeared to make
objections it was moved by C.J. Knickerbocker, seconded
by Councilman Frank L. Barta and unanimously carried
to adopt the budget as read and the Clerk is hereby
authorized and instructed to file same with the
Linn County Auditor.
It was moved by Councilman Chas A. Elson, Second
by councilman John E. Murphy, and unanimously carried
that Mayor John Lefebure and Councilman C. J. Knickerbocker,
be and are hereby elected delegates to the Annual Convention
of the League of Iowa Municipalities, to be held at Cedar
Rapids, Iowa, August 20th and 21st, 1946.
There being no further business to come before the
meeting it was moved, seconded and carried to adjourn.
