February 3, 1947 .
Regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Fairfax, Iowa held this 3rd day of February, 1947 .
The meeting was called to order at 8 P. M. by
Mayor, John Lefebure.
Councilmen present: Chas A. Elson, Frank L. Barta,
John E. Murphy and Chas J. Dvorak.
Councilmen absent: C. J. Knickerbocker
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and
approved.
The proposition of whether or not to purchase a windmidil
tower km on which to mount the fire siren was discussed
and the concensus prevailed that for the present no
change would be made.
The matter of improving Main Street, east of Reynolds
street was discussed and it was the opinion that some-
thing should be done with this street. The Clerk was
to try and determine by the County records the status
of the street beginning at the former Gidding ' s property
and running east.
The necessity for a new location for the loca. Post
Office was discussed. No official action taken but
several suggestions presented for future reference.
Application by Fred Smith for Cigarette License at the
former Firkins location was read and it was moved,
seconded and unanimously carried that the Clerk be and
is hereby authorized and instructed to issue the license
to Fred Smith upon payment of proper license fee and
filing of bond.
There being no further business it was moved, seconded
and carried to adjourn.
