April 7, 1947
Regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax,
Iowa held this 7th day of April, 1947 .
The meeting was called to order at 7 : 30 P. M. by John Lefebure,
Mayor.
Councilmen present: Chas A. Elson, Chas J. Dvorak, Frank L.
Barta and John E. Muephy.
Councilman absent: C. J. Knickerbocker.
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and approved.
Assessor, James Yanece_-, met with the council and the Council
sitting as a board of review to actions as follows:
It was moved by Councilman Chas J . Dvorak, seconded by councilman
Frank L. Barta and unanimously carried that the Grain Elevator
owned by the Central Iowa Grain Company and located on the C. M.
St. P. Ry. Co. Right of Way be xxxaxxactx valued for assessment
purposes at $1,000.00.
It was moved by Councilman Chas A. Elson, Seconded by Councilman
John E. Murphy and unanimously carried that Earl Heinze dwelling
at the East end of Main street be valued for assessment purposes
at $3, 500.00 and the dwelling, formerly the Wicke dwelling, be
valued for assessment purposes at $2,000.00
It was moved by Councilman John E. Murphy, seconded by Councilman
Frank L. Barta and unanimously carried that the item of Real Estate
in the Strang ' s Inc. statement be Valued for assessment purposes
at $4, 272.02.
It was moved by Councilman Chas A. Elson, seconded by councilman
Frank L. Barta and unanimously carried that the following men be
approved as members of the Fairfax: fire Department:
"Chas J. Dvorak, John E. Muephy, John L. Krall, Robert A. Lockhart,
Ernest F. Listebarger, W. W. Wims, Claire Stallman, Chas J. Boland,
Ralph Emanuel, Jack Neuhaus, Wm. Michalek, Lloyd J. Lefebure, and
Bernard W. Stallman".
It was moved by Councilman Frank L. Barta, seconded by Councilman
Chas A. Elson, and unanimously carried that following appointments
as officers of the Fairfax Fire Department be and are hereby
approved: For Chief; Chas J. Dvorak; For Assistant chief,
John E. Murphy, and for Secretary-Treasurer, John L. Krall.
It was moved, seconded and carried that all expenditures of
funds made by the Town Clerk on Warrants #515 to #621 inclusive
be and are hereby approved.
There being no further business it was moved, seconded and
