Regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Fairfax, Iowa held this 2nd day of June, 1947.
The meeting was called to order at 8: 15 P. M.
by John Lefebure, i�iayor.
Councilmen present: Chas A. Elson, Fran . L. Barta,
Chas J. Dvorak and John E. Murphy.
Councilman absent: C. J. Knicketbocker
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read
and approved.
Cigarette permit application by the following
were read:
Fred Smith, Ralph Emanuel, Raymond W. Probst,
and Boland Tavern.
It was moved by Councilman Chas J . Dvorak, seconded
by Councilman Chas A. Elson, and unanimously carried that
Cigarette Permits be issued to the applicants.
Application for class B . Beer permit by Emma and
Chas J. Boland, operating the Boland Tavern, was read and
it was moved by Councilman John E. Murphy, Seconded by
Councilman Frank L. Barta, and unanimously carried that
the beer permit be issued upon payment of filing proper
bond and payment o_° $100.00 license fee .
The town Clerk reported that a representative of
the Iowa Electric Light a Power Co. enquired as to where
the street light at the intersection of Vanderbilt and
Main street be located and it was moved by Councilman
Frank L. Barta, seconded by Councilman Chas J. Dvorak and
unanimously carried to have the light erected on the pole
at the northwest corner of the intersection.
In compliance with instructions issued to the Clerk
at the meeting held May 5th the Clerk directed a letter to
the secretary of the League of Iowa Municipalities regarding
a building code. The clerk read a letter from the
Secretary of the League of Iowa Municipalities in reply
to the matter. No action was taken.
The Clerk read a letter from the U. S. Insecticides
Company, 90 Fi -'st Ave. N. W. Cedar Rapids , Iowa submitting
proposal to spray the Town of Fairfax in connection with
the Statewide fly control drive for $520.00. The Clerk
reported that at the time the proposal was submitted by
Mr. E. R. 3essen the said Jessen was told by the Clerk
that the bid was too high and that in reply Mr. Jessen
stated some reduction could be made if it was desired
the work be done. No action taken to dispose 6f
the matter.

to adjourn
