August 4, 1947
Regular meeting of the Town Council of the Town
of Fairfax, Iowa held this 4th day of August, 1947.
The meeting was called to order at 8 P. M. by
Mayor, John Lefebure.
Councilmen present: Chas A. Elson, Frank L. Barta,
Chas J. Dvorak and John E. Murphy.
Councilman absent: Chas J. Knickerbocker.
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read
and approved.
The budget as recommended at the meeting held
July 17, 1947 was read, same having been published in
the Cedar Rapids Gazette on July 22, 1947. There being
no objections filed and no taxpayers appeared to make
objection it was moved by Chas J. Dvorak, seconded by
John E. Murphy, and unanimously carried to adopt the
budget as read and the Clerk is hereby authorized
and instructed to file same with the Linn County
Auditor.
ORDINANCE NO. 9
AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PARKING OF MOTOR VEHICLES
IN FRONT OF THE TOWN FIRE STATION OR OTHERWIESE OBSTRUCTING
THE ENTRANCE TO THE TOWN FIRE STATION.
Be it Ordained by the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax,
Iowa:
SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for aaoionnetto pa noire station
motor vehicle, or any kind of a vehicle, r n to
(10) feet north of the fire station to the south side of the
alley just south of the fire stations or to in any way obstruct
the entrance to the said town fire station.
SECTION 2. Penalties. Anyone violating any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject
to imprisonment not exceeding thirty days, or to a fine not
exceeding one hundred dollars. Whenever the fine and costs
imposed for the violation of this ordinance are not paid, the
person convicted my be committed to jail until the fine and
costs are paid, not exceeding thirty days.
SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hefteby
repealed.

SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in force and effect
from and after its passage and publication as provided by
law.

It was moved by John E. Murphy, seconded by Chas A.
Elson and unanimously carried that the reading of Ordinance
No. 9, An Ordinance prohibiting the parking of motor vehicles
in front of the Town Fire Station or otherwiese obstructing
the entrance to the town Fire Station, for the second and
third time be dispensed with, and the ordinance be adopted.
Thereupon Ordinance No. 9 was duly declared adopted
and the the Clerk was instructed to post notice of said
Ordinance in compliance with the law.
Ordinance No. 9 posted as provided by law this
day of August, 1947.
The Town Clerk was instructed to Notify Nelis Weland,
Ella Harrington, Mrs Mary Cross and Mrs John Brecht regarding
care of side*wlks and trees. Also to notify Earl F. Hinze
to remove the tree over the sidewalk at his property
and Raymond W. Probst regarding completion of placing of
culverts and providing suitable sidewalk facilities.
There being no further business it was moved,
seconded and carried to adjourn.
