HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/15/1948 Council Minutes 172 March 15, 1948 Special meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa. The meeting was called to order at 8 P. M. by Mayor, John Lefebure. Councilmen present: Chas J. Knickerbocker, Chas J. Dvorak, Frank L. Barta and John E. Murphy. Councilman absent: Chas A. Elson. Present also were Wm. F. Zamastil, W. W. Wims, and others. In the absence of Town Clerk, J. L. Krall, it was moved, seconded and carried that John E. Murphy act as clerk for this meeting. Mayor, John Lefebure, reported that a registered letter was sent to the Concrete Materials & Construction Company on March 12th cancelling their permit to use dynamite at the Knickerbocker quarry. Mr. Knickerbocker reported that he was at the Concrete Construction and Materials Company office at about 9: 30 A. M. onf Saturday, March 13th and that the letter which was sent On Friday March 12th had not yet been received. Considerable discussion followed and it was agreed that Chas J. Dvorak was to supervise the loading of furute charges of dynamite but that it the present time some charges are already for touching off and cannot be re- moved. After considerable discussion it was left for Chas J. Dvorak, and anyone else that could be available to come to the bank at ( 9 A.M. tomorrow, March 16, to meet% with the superintendent of the quarry and see ehat could be worked out with regard to placing lighter loads in the future, etc. It was moved, seconded and carried to adjourn.
