Flow, TO-WIT . this 'nth day of April, 19520 at the hour
of twelve o ' clock noon, the town council of the Torn of
Fairfax, Linn County, Iowa as duly elected, assembled for the
purpose of organization as provided for under the provisions
of the Iowa Statute.
The Town Clerk, J. L. Kral.1, Administered the oath of
office to Franklin J. Ka.ral., the duly elected Mayor.
Frankling J. Karal, , the Mayor, then adrini.stered
the oath of office to the following elected councilmen:
Chas J. Dvorak, Andrew C. Miller, Xxxxxt hTinford W. Wims,

Councilman elect , Howard V . Steinmetz, was not
present ,
It was moved, seconded and carried that the meeting
recess until 7.30 P.M. of this date and to reassemble in
the Fairfax State Savings flank at that time to continue
the meeting.
Now this 7th day of April, 1952, . at the hour of
7:30 P.M. the said council of the Town of Fairfax, Linn
County, Iona, did reassemble with Mayor Franklin J. Ka,ral
presiding and the following councilmen present
Andrew C. Miller, Howard V. Steinmetz, W. W. Wims
and lam. F. Zamastil.
Mayor Franklin J. Karal administered to oath of office
to Councilman, Howard V , Steinmetz .
It was moved, seconded and. carried that the pond of
Mayon Franklin J. Karat, which bond is signed by Lloyd J.
Lef ebur°e, and J. L. iral.l, be and is hereby approved.
Mayor, Franklin J. Karat., presented the name of J. L.
Krall for ToKn Clerk and it was moved, seconded and carried
-that said J. L. kr°all be elected. Town Clerk for the ensuing
two years .
It was moved., seconded and carried, that the Clerk 's
salary be $150.00 per year.

Mayor Franklin J. Karal presented the name of Miss
Edna DeL,any for Town Treasurer and it was moved, seconded.
and carried that Edna DeLany be elected Town. Treasurer
for the ensuing t er .
It was moved, seconded and car°r°ied that the Town
Treasurer's salary be $36.00 per year.
Mayor Franklin J. Karal announced the appointment of
C. L. McCaughey as Town Marshal. Much discussion and
criticism followed.

Much of the criticism was with reference to McCaughey's
inability to properly handle children to which there was
general agreement. The Mayor assured. the Counc- that
he agreed ik some of the criticism but stated that at the
present time he considered Xr. McCaughey they best qualifiYed
person available for the position and stated that while he
had not been assured McCaughey world accept the position
he asked for the entire council 's Support of the program to
do something about certain conditions that could easily lead
to seriousness, possible death by auto accidents.
It was moved by Abdrew Killer, seconded by Wm. F. Zamastil
and unanimously carried that the Marshal's salary be $20.00
per month.
It was moored, seconded and carried that the following persons
be approved as officers and members of the Fairfax Fire
Department
Chas J. orak, Chief . ; .Andrew G. Miller, As�istant Chief
J. L. Krall, Secretary-Treasurer and other members :
E.F.Listebarger, Robert Lockhart , Jahn F. Murphy, Chas J
Boland Ralph Emanuel, Jack Neuhaus, Franklin J. Karal,

and Steinrmetz, Raymond Mi ner, and Don W.
Hall.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the Fire Chief,
Chas J. Dvorak, be paid $60.00 per year for looking after
the servicing of the fire t ack, keeping the fire, et-C®
It was moved by W. W. Wims, Seconded by Howard Steinmetz,
and unanimously' carried that Fairfax State Savings dank
be and is hereby designated depositary for funds of the gown
of Fairfax, Iowa and that Edna DeLan,y, Treasurer of slid Town
of Fairfax is hereby authorized to deposit funds of the town
of Fairfax, Iowa in said Fairfax State Savings Dante in sums
totaling in the aggregate not to exceed $79500.00.
It was roved, seconded and carried that the regular meetings
to the Torn Council be held on the First Wednesday of each
month at 6 o' clock P.M.
The-:,following bills were read : Loren S. Carver $15.00 for
snow removal; John F. Murphy, Mayor 's salary 15.00; J.L.
rall, Clerk's salary $37.50; C.L.McCaughey $30.00 salary
and $3.53 expenses paid, Adcr• ft for cards and printing $7.00.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the bills be allowed
and warrants 13 o 17 inclusive be issued in payment of
same.
The treasurer's report was read showing the balance in
each fund; the tota. in all being $9'71.59®
The minutes of' the meeting of March 239, 1952 were read
and approved.

Wm. F. Z mastil reported be had dumped loads of junk
at the farm of Milo Buresh and it Was moved, seconded and
carried to pay $18.00 to Milo Buresh for the privilege of
dumping

The mayor appointed a Street & Alley committee consisting

There being no further business it was moved, seconded
and carried to adjourn,
