Meeting of the Town Council of the Town of
Fairfax, Linn County, Iowa.
The meeting was called to order at 7: 30 P.N.
by Mayor, Joseph Petrzelka.
Councilmen present : Chas J. Dvorak, Andrew G.
Miller, Raymond D. Mizner, Howard Steinmetz arid„
Wm. F. Zama.stiel,
No councilmen absent,
The minutes of the preceeding meeting we Pe
read and approved,
The treasurer's report showing a total of
all fu in the sum of 3,5 42.36 was re,

was moved, seconded and carried that the report be
approved,
Applications for renewal cigarette licenses
by the following were read.
Boland Tavern, hay 's Texaco Service, Elmer
M. Vorel and Howard Wehde.
It was moved by Chas J. Dvorak, seconded by
Howard Steinmetz, and unanim(,usly carried that all
of said applications ins be approved and the Town Clerk
be and is hereby authorized to renew same upon filing
of proper bond and payment of the license fee of
$50.00 by each applica t®
Application for renewal of Class B beer permit
by Emma and Charles J. Boland was read and it was mop=ed
by Wm. F. Zamastil, seconded by Andrew G. Miller and
unanimously carried that same be granted and the
clerk issue renewal permit upon filing of proper bond
and payment of the annual fee of $1.50.00®
The matter of the many rocks placed in the
public streets, expecially Main Street west of
Vanderbilt Streets was brought to the attention of
the Mayor and the Town Council and it was moved by
Chas J. Dvorak, seconded by Howard Steinmetz? and
unanimously- carried that the street and alley committee
be and are her by authorized and instructed to notify
each of the citizens in fr°ont of which the rocks and
other obstructions are placed and to order them to
remove same within ten days from date of the notice
and if said order is not complied with to employe
someone to hau i same away.

Sgt . James Clapp of the Iowa Highway Patrol and
Marshal McCaughey appeared before the council with several
recommendations regarding enforcement of speed laws, fines,
etc. Sgt. Clapp also recommended repair and repainting.
of the two 45 MPH spped limit signs on highway 150 at
the north and the south town limits.
It- was moved. by Mi.zner, seconded by Steinmetz, and
unanimously carried: that the street and alley committee
be and are hereby authorized and instructed to make said
repairs and improvements to the signs as recommended by
Sgt . Clapp.
The committee appointed at the previous meeting; to
see about drainage of surplus surface water beginning at
the south end of Park Street at Church Street reported
they had talked with each of toad property owners to the
south of that paint and each was in favor of permitti,n
the opening of a small drainage ditch so that the water
could empty into the roadside ditch about 300 or 400
feet to the south. Much discussion followed with
Mayor petrzelka objecting and it was moved by Howard
Steinmetz, seconded by Raymond Mizner and unanimously
carried that the Street and Alley committee be and are
hereby authorized and instructed to first obtain a
written permit to be signed by each of the property
owners across which property the ditch is to roan, and
then arrange to have said ditch opened..
There being no further business to come before
the meeting it was mewed, seconded and carried to
adjourn.
