HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/18/1958 Council Minutes August 18, 1958_ Special meeting of the town council called to order at 7;30 Po M. by Mayor Mizner with all councilmen and town :attorney ,Ackley present, Robert Bah, representative 'cif Carleton D. Beh Co. , Investment Securities dealer from Des Haines; was present to answer questions in regard. to the possibilities of 'a Municipal Water System, and to advise the council as to ghat steps are necessary on such matter.. Mr. Beh had the most recent valuations from the County Auditors office, and indicated that to raise the necessary financing at this time would be possible, but not very probable. He suggested that we wait until the new valuations are available and certified from the County Auditor, These new valuations will reflect the recent increases in valuations made by the Assessors. That would give a larger tax base on which to issue General Obligation Bonds, and provide the possibility of a combination of G. D. Bonds along with some Water Revenue Bonds to raise the necessary funds withou* going in debt to the limit on G. O. bonds. This, he pointed out, would give some cushion if another project such as sewage would be desired in the near future. It was agreed that Mr. Beh$s advice be followed, and that no further action would be taken until such information as. needed be available from the County Auditor, f Regis Arp and Herbert Schulte, who had a petition for rezoning of some residential 'property to commercial use denied by the City Zoning and Planning Commission,, appeared to the council, asking if the :Council would consider further their request and rule in their :favor. After a brief 'discussion, the Town Attorney advised that Arp and Schulte 1w contact the objectors and have them appear in person at the next regular meeting of the Council or have a statement submitted if they have changed their position relative to their opposition. The council stated that they would take definite action on their request as denied by the Plan Commission at the September 3 meeting. No further business, the meeting adjourned. Mayor Clerk F l
