Waggonner, representing Neptune Meter Co. , met with the council to demonstrate their water meter. After explaining the operation and quoting a price of $ , he indicated he would check with the council sometime by February, 1960 to determine if there would be a purchase made . estimate Sylvan Ames presented the Kaxitxxxt on the well portion of his original contract. The amount of $5,284.00, less a 10% retainer fee, or $4,755. 60, had been approved by Lechner Co. This same statement was approved by the council, and the clerk instructed to issue the warrant in line with the previous arrangements with Carleton D. Beh Co. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurers report was read and approved. An amendment of Current Budget , showing an increase in expend- itures in the general fund from $1 ,000.00 to $5,000. 00 and an increase in the expenditures in the Liquor Profit fund from $375.00 to $3,000.00 was read by councilman Emanuel. This amendment is for the 195' budget, and the intention is to set these idle funds in a construction fund for the purpose of paying the small items of expense incurred with the water system, These funds will be entirety re imbursed, providing the total cost of the water Pcojest does not exceed 80,000.00. On a motion by Steinmetz, and seconded by Dvorak, the amendment of Current budget was moved, seconded and unanimously approved. Clerk instructed to have same published in the Cedar Rapids Gazette, with the hearing set on Dec. 19, 1959 at the Fairfax State Savings Bank. A discussion of a tentative contract with Lechner Eng. Co. in regard to additional engineering services, over and above the general supervision. This contract called for a minimum of ei, ht days supervision for $600.00. It was recommended that a contract be prepared calling for $75.00 per day, with no min- im,um number of days, and the council would take it under ad- visement at the next meeting. Ordinance number 29 was read and approved unanimously by roll call vote . It provides the salaries for the councilman, mayor, clerk and town treasurer. Warrants no. 18 thru 22 were read and approved. No further business to come before the meeting, it was moved, seconded and approved to adjourn. Mayor Clerk ........... ORDIXANCE NO. 2' AN WINANCE TO ESTAVLTSH THU SALARIES OF MUNICTPAL OFFICERS Be it Enacted by the Council of the Town of Fairfax, Linn County, Iowa: SECTIO N 11 C 0 UN C I�LN E,N, . The salary of each councilman shal! be $3.00 for each meeting of the council but in no event will he be paid more than $12500 in any one year. SECTION 2. MAYM The mayor shall recOve in salary an annual amount of $100,90, SECTION 3. CLUM The clerk shall receive an annual salary of $30005. SECTION 4. TREASUREP. The treasurer shall receive an. annual salary of $5%00 SECTION 5, REPEALER. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordivance are hereby repealed, These are : SECTTON 6, SAVING CLAUSE. If any section, provision, or part of this ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or /unconsti- tutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole er any section, provision, or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 7, WHE9 EFFECTIVE.
