Kubasa, malror elect, toot/ the bath of office aadminstered by D. C. Neuhaus.9 for the term Jan. 19 1962 to Jan. . 19 19.640 The following councilmen took the oath of +office, administered by Mayor Kubasa: Ralph Emanuel., Russell Carver' Howard Steinmetz, Richard 'Zenisek and Rudolph Nemec, Their terms to be from Jan .. ' 1 . 1962.. to Jan. It 1964. Mayor Kubasa. then adjourned the meeting until 7;30 PM Jan. 30 1962. l Now on Jan 39 1962 at 7;30 at the Fairfax, State Savings Bank, the Mayor and town council continued the Jan. 1 meeting. All councilmen were present, The- mayor appointed H. C. 'Neuhaus as town cleric for the ensuing two yearsand on motion made, seconded and unanimously ppproved, the council :approved this action. The appointment of town treasurer would not be made until next meeting. Wm.L. Serbousek was appointed as town marshall at a Salary of $60.00 per month. A motion by Emanuel and seconded by Steinmetz to appoint Warren C. 'Ackley town attorney was unanimously approved. . The Mayor; appointed Richard Zenisek as mayor pro temp. Ralph Emanuel was appointed' as custodian of the Fire Station and to be. paid an annual salary of $60.030. Some discussion was held in connection with establishing a police court and also the possibility of a Justice of the Peace beam established. It was agreed and declared by Mayor Kubasa that the regular meetings of the town council would be held ;the first Wednesday of each month at :30 T. M. at the Fairfax ;State Savings Bank.. On motion made, seconded and unanimously approved, the The Fairfax State Savings Bank was appointec� as depository for funds of the Town of Fairfax in any amount up to $2o,a00,0"0. Any funds derived from the sale of bonds or other funds jn connection with a proposed sewer, project would ,not be considered in this $20,000.00 limitation. The Mayor appointed Nemec. Carver and Zenisek to the street and alley committee Hn motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, Wallace Selzer was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission to complete the term of kilo J. Kubasa who has to become. d Mayor. resigne 1 Joe Goetschius was appointed dog catcher, and to be paid a monthly salary of $5.00. In view of some inquiries, it was decided that it was permissible to reimburse Loren Carver for snow removal at the skating rink. � Some further discussion was held in regard to the option to purchase land owned by Regis and Kenneth Arp south of prairie creek and north of the C. & N. W. Railroad. In view of the towns offer of the approximately 18 acres at $325,00 per acre and Arps offer to sell at $400.00 per acre, the clerk was authorized and instructedto offer Arps $365,00 per acre for the approximate 18 acres of land on an option to be drawn by the town attorney. On motion by Nemec and seconded by Steinmetz, the 9xt1nxdmg cotificil unanimously approved the following ordinance No.-,J\,,, pertaining to the following: A copy is attached to these minutes, An ordinance amending ordinance no. 22 relating to regulating and restricting the location, construction, use of buildings, structures, and the use of land in the town of Fairfax, Iowa, and for said purposes dividing the. town into districts and creating a board of adjustment, and amendments thereto, Specifically, this ordinance changes from residential to Class A Business District that land owned by Petrik south of highway 149 and that land being purchased by Karal, from Manville, containing about 10 acres, also south of 149' all situated in the NF l of Sec. 9®82-8 Linn Co. , Iowa, On motion by Steinmetz and seconded by Zienisek, it was pfiixmEKxx unanimously approved to dispense with the second and third readings of this ordinance.
