FAIRF'A. , IOVA
VIEREAS, the tensions inn the international situation are such that the

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT: The TQwn COMKI of Fairfax, Iowa hereby
subscribes to and will abide by all of ihe previsions and conditions of the
Linn County Resolution passed and adopted establishing a Linn County/Municipal
Civil Defense Agency, a copy f which is attached hereto.

The Town Council of Fairfax met in regular session Jan. 49 1965.
Councilmen present ; Carver, Kovar, Nemec and Stallwan.
Absent: Nerta
The clerk was absent from the meeting.
The minutes of the Dec. 7, 1964 meeting were read and approved*
The treasurers report was read and approved.
Warrants nurber 855 thru 899 were read and approved.
Clerk asked to check with Iowa State Industrdes on the status
of the order for street signi and also with Iowa Valve Go. in
regard to a parts calaloge for hydrant parts,
Clerk instructed to write Bob Tipped , the factory representative
for the sewbr lift stations in r6gard to a—warning lite at staion

ResKution # 65-1, entitled "Resolution approving the establishment
of a Civil Defense Agency f or Fairfax, Iowa " was read, A motion
by Nemec, and seconded by Carver and unanimously approved to
approve this resolution as filed and attached to these minutes.
The purpose of this resolution was to enable Fairfax to participate
W in the Civil Defense program and be entitled to obtain certain
equipment in connection with their program,
Said resolution had been checked and found correct by the town attorney.
The following appropriations were approved by the ceuncil, the
same in conjunction with the 3udget as approved August 12 , 19641.

a discussion was had pertaining to tho possibility of obtaining
liability insurance to protect the interests of the town ani also
the town marshall , arising out of the per4formance of the duties
of town marshall, it was pointed out that the Town did have liabi lit.y
covera, for such acts on the Comprehensive General Liability policy
carried by the town, Covprage for the peace officer as an individual
was not had on this policy and the Llerk was instructed to investigate
whether or not blis coverage was available.
�Fi.r'e Chief Carver- discussed with the council the need for a heater
in the fire station. With natural gas available , it was decided to
install a large enough furnace that would be usable in a new building
if one were ever built. It was decided that this prgject would be
paid for by the Fire Department rather than by the town.
