July 12, 1966
Regular meeting of the town council held July 12 , 1.966 with the
Mayor and all counc-ilmen present except Buresh. Clerk Neuhaus absent.
Mr, Hall of Hall Engineering Co. was present to discuss the progress
of street work planning. 11,n,11 reported that his final plan was
incomplete, but that he would have it for the regular August meeting.
Such items were discussed as follows: Width of street— Cost of
Intersect!ons—co-st of hard surfaces—curb grade ordinance for the
town—U. S. Gov 't, aid on such projects—Storm sewer information.
Motion by Stall man and deconded by Vondra -to approve liquor permit,
class G, for Albert L. Snell dba Sam's Liounge and also for James
H. Kurtz dba Royale Ballroom,
The request of fary Burger from. a recent meeting about extending
Main Street through her property as discussed. It was pointed out
that Main Street ends at the east side -of Siepman Drive. Mrs.
Burger would have to deed the proposed Main St. extended to the
toim and prepare the street® An alternative. might be to grant the
buyer of certain lots an easement for access as a temporary solution.
In the long run, it would appear that the Main St . extended Tfould
become Town prf_.perty.
The problem of trespassers and the trouble they were causing at the
Z,
Quarry as discussed. It was decided that Ia. Fund should obtain
permission from the G. 8, N. W. 'to block the lane with a gate and
barrier.

about the Dutch blm problem and th e resulting removal of trees.
From what is known at this time. he was in for med t h t the toi,Tn would
draft an ordinance to comply with the state requirments on removal
of dead trees.
A sketch of the Church St. & 149 intersection and the Prairie St. &
149 intersection was presented as prepared by the Highway Commission.
Hargrave is to submit a quote on this job to be acted an at a later
meeting.
Warrants no. 198 thru 226 ware read and approved.
The treasurers report was read and approved,
Fwther discussi�n on th1c, 1967 proposed budget was had. It was
the opinion of the council that Fairfax would not enter into a
contract with the Cedar _lipids Library for service at This tinte.
Perhaps more favorable action would be taken if more details of the
program such as Bookmobile service were
Layor® announced a special meeting on July 219 1966 to complete the
budget proposal for publication.
