The Regular meeting of the town council held this 12th day of October with
Hayor Zenisek and the following councilmen present .- Shakespeare , Stallman
and Baresh. Attorney Ackley also present.
The miniites of the Sept. 12 meeting were read and approved.
Warrants no® 262 thru 284 were read and approved.
The treasurers report was presented,
Clerk recommended investment of $5,000 in a six month certificate, said
investment being approved.
Raymond Brecht visited with th,: council in regadd to an apparent inflow
of foreign water in the sanitary sewer system in the vicinity of his res-
idence. It was the consensus that in times of ground saturation,, the
footing -tile of his house does draw an .excessive amount of water which in
turn puts a load on the system® This has caused some backing up of water
in certain basements and it is a problem that should be solved. However,
it -was agreed that short of footing eliminating Brecht 's drain,, the

solution was not easy* It was decided that elevations would be checked
and if possible, a string of tile located tlose to the footing drain,,
would be installed and connected to a line recently constructed and located
west of the Brecht house in the playground area. This line is not conn-
ected with the sanitary system and it is hoped this method would intercept
some of the excess water that now gets into the sanitary system, and remove
it via the agricultural drain that now exists.
Ze,nisek reported a duscussion with Ely Mayor Duffe and a cost sharing
on the proposed Sheriff--Town Marshall plan would involve each town paying
the county on the basis of population. This would have Fairfax paying
$225.00 per month and Ely paying $93.00 per month as our shares.
After a copy of the contract between the county and the town was presented
and reviewed by counsel, Shakespeare introduced a resolution that was
seconded by Stall. an whereby the council wou,ld approve said contract, a
copy of which is attabhed hereto® Said motion unanimously approved,
A further resolution introduced by Shakespeare and seconded by Stallman
,,,•hereby Mayor Zenisek would have authority to negotiate with the County
for the sale of a 1966 Ford police oar and all allied equipment.
Said mction carried unanimously.
Ackley pointed out that the lagoon area shou.11d be formall annexed to the
town and proper proceedings were presented to accom)lish this. They are
to be submitted to the Plan & Zoning commission®
Zen-Js ek reported that R. Nemec has agreed to have the warning device from
the lift stations connected intc his home, and the South Slope Tel Co. so
advised. Zenisek also reported that Gee Exca,vating vrould do some grading
and leveling of rip rap on the north lagoon dike and that the machine cost
would be $19.50 per hour plus a $20.00 moving charge. It is estimated thA-
one dayts work will do the job.
Clerk asked to chedk with eft® Vernon clerk for a list of tree removers,
Clerk asked to check also on qualified people that could identify trees
that are effected by Dutch Elm Disease after the leaves have gone.
It was decided that the town would not install a mercury vapor street light
in the vicinity of St. Pat's. Church since there is an existing lite on the
corner, However, the Church was granted permission to install same at their
expense if they desired.
The balance of the meeting was spent reviewing the re-written ordinances.
