October 11, 1967
The regular meeting of the Fairfax Town Council was held
Oct . 11, 1967 with all councilmen present except Shakespeare
and Kovar®
The minutes of the Sept . 12 meeting were read and approved,.
The trews® report was read and approved.
Warrants no. 464 thru 474 were read and approved.
A request from W. Scannell to replace a culvert was 3-,,.rese:nted
by the clerk. Scannell had indicated- he would be glad to pay
for the culvert if the Town would install it. It was decided,
that in accordance with previous policy, all expense in connection
with a replacement or new culvert, mould be that of t he owner
involved,
Election judges and clerks for the Nov. 7 election were
appointed as follows;
Chas. A Mrak, judge
Helen Herta, judge
William Edwards, judge
Wm. Behle , clerk
Doris Nemec, clerk
Hayor Zenisek reported that he had hired Joseph Klahmer
for the purpose of doing maintenance work on the water and
sewer system, His wage would be in the approximate amount
of $2.25 to $2.50 per hour, the exact amount to be determined
later. Said action was approved by the council.
Motion by Vondrat seconded by Stallman, to accept the proposal
of Whitney Pump Co. and approved by Hall Eng. Co. , for the
installation of anal X guarantee of an auxiliary pump to be located
at the lift station #1 for a price of $12880.00. Said motion
approved, Previously, engineer Hall had approved this plan
and stated the pump is designed to solve the problem of handling
excess water at this station.
A discussion pertaining to the hiring of a full time town
employee for routine maintenance in all departments was held,
but no decision taken.
Xayor indicated a continued interest in the creatian of a,
Fire District and indicated that a meeting of the public officials-
involved would be forthcoming.

ORDINANCE TAO.
AN ORDIXOCE REGULATING THE BUSINESS HOURS OF TAVERNS LOCATED IN THE TOWN OF
`AIRFAX, ,IOWA, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES.
Be: It Enacted by the Council of the Town of Fairfax, Iowa
SECTION 1. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to regulate the hours
of 'business of all taverns, meaning thereby all business places where beer and/or
liquor is sold for consumption on the premises, excepting therefrom any business
which has a dance loll permit and also sells beer andlor liquor.
Sec. 2. Regulation. All taverns wherein beer and/or liquor is sold for con-
sumption on the premises shall be closed between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7 a,.m,.
of each weekday and during the remaining hours may be open for business, weekends,
meaning Saturdays and Sundays, such taverns may be open for business only from
7 a.m. on Saturday to I o'clock a..m. on the following Sunday. This regulation
shall not apply to businesses which have a dance ball pert and also sell beer
and/or liquor.
Sec. 3. Definition. Closing shall mean that patrons or customers of such �
tavern or business shall no longer be in such establishment or in the premises.
Sec. 4. Penalties. The operator of any such tavern or 'business violating any of
the provisions of this ordinance shall be subject, upon conviction, to imprisonment
not exceeding thirty (30) days, or a fine not exceeding one hundred dollars ($100).
Sec. 5. Repealer. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance: are hereby repealed.
Sec. 6. Saving clause. If any section, provision, or part of this ordinance
shall be adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not
affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any sections provision, or i
part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.
Sec. 7. When effective. This ordinance shall be in effect after its final
pa.ssa.ge:, approval, and publication as provided by law.
