The Town Council of Fairfax met in special session Feb. 23, 1968
at 6 :30 PX on call from Myer Zenisek as per the attached
wkitten notice signed by Deputy Sarbousek, showing that proper
notification of said meeting was given to each councilman.
All councilmen present on roll call vote,
The purpose of this meeting was to consider the status of the
Class B. Beer permit of Albert Le Snell.
Also present were town attorney Ackley and Marshall Serbousek.
Items discussed in connection with the tavern operation were as
follows:
1 . Numerous incidents of disorderly type conduct on the premises.
2® The presence of a minor in the establishment during open hours.
3, Reports of gambling on the premises.
4. An excerpt from the partial transcript of Cedar Rapids Kunicipal
Court was read showing that two parties were recently found gUlty
of disorderly conduct arising from an altercation at Sam's Lounge.
Included in the testimony of the trial was a statement srecifically
indicating that thero was gambling in the to prior to the
altercation.
5. Hayor, indicated that on numerous occasions he had visited with
Albert Snell and related certain complaints that had come to his
attention. In each cast it was pointed out that it was necessary to
conduct the business in accordance iith the law.
6. Entertainmmut was being permitted on the premises that raised
serious doubt about the morality of same.
After discussion of these items in detail, it was moved by Austin,
seconded by Buresh, that in accord race with Section 124.34 of the
1966 Code of Iowa, that the Class B Beer parmit of Albert L, Snell
d Sam's Lounge be revoked for a period of sixty days, effective
Xonday, Feb. 26 , 1968 at 7 :00 A. M. 9 and that the mayor be authorized
to sign such revocation notice , same to be attested by the clerk and
served on Snell by the Linn County Sheriff, There was no discussion
or question on the motion, and on roll call vote taken, it was
unanimously approved.
