April 10, 1968
The Regular meeting of the Fairfax Town Council held at 7:00 PM
April 1091968 with the following councilmen present:
Stallmang Shakespeare, Strang and Austin' Buresh absent,
The resignation of Louis Buresh from his term of councilmen was
read and accepted. Thanks to Mr. Buresh was extended by mayor
Zenisek for his service of more than two years®
Mayor announced that under normal circumstances, the meetings
would be limited to 21 hours and that if the necessary business

was not completed in that time , that a special meeting would
follow.
Warrants approved as follows:
Town regular no. 571 thru 583
Water no, 485 thru 490
Suver no. 260 thru 265
Treasurers report approved showing a balance of $169932.87
Mayor Zenisek reported on the meeting with Vic Miller -of the
Cedar Rapids Plan Commission *hich he attended with Strang and
Neuhaus. Cedar Rapids would share with Fairfax their research
and results in connection with the Mobile Home Park ordinance.
On motion by Strang and seconded by Shakespeare, it was unanimously
carried that the town attorney proceed to draft an ordinance
providing for the operation and control of a mobilehome park,.
Ackley was to avail himself of the information referred to in the
meeting with Mr. Miller.
Clerk reported that the work on the municipal code would be finished
and ready for the printer by the next meeting.
Some discussion in regard to flouridation was had. There was some
thought that before a final decisinn was reached, that perhaps a
referendum should be had so as to obtain the citizens attitude
toward this project. This matter was tabled to be discussed at
more length at the May meeting.
Mayor announced that there would be a meeting on May 9 in Washington,
Ia, concerning Budgeting Procedures.
On the recommendation of the Fairfax Fire Dept. , Ronald Vavroch
was approved for membership on the Department.
Wm. Gibney, Ronald Burger and Steve Pickart visited with th council
in regard to the maintanance of the playground area for this summer.
The lease agreement with St. Patrick Church as reviewed and the
Town twas the responsibility of maintenance, which includes grass cuttin,
These three men reported that they had done some investigation in
regard to the purchade of a- riding mower, and after some discus I on
it was moved by Shakespeare and seconded by Austin to purchase
a used mower from Schwitters for a cost of $400,00.
Mayor reported on the meeting; with the T'wp. trustees of April 4 and
a meeting with the Walford council, both indicating interest in
the pr6posal on having the trustees levy a tax for fire
protection,, and the resulting agreement with the town
of Rairfax for fire protection.
Howell Construction Co, was to be notified to look at the
streets and make a proposal on their repair®
Some discussion pertaining to the replacement of
Councilman Buresh was hadq but no actiont aken at this
time®
No further business, the meeting adjourned®

James Kurtz present during the discussion of Mobile Home Park
ordinance. It was pointed out that ordinance # 23 passed in
1956 has some provisions in this regard and that this ordinance
would be updated to meet current requirements. It was reported
that Ackley was proceeding on this proje t.
Xration by Austin and second by Strang to approve John Zamastil
for membership in the Fire Deptp carried unanimously.
' A discussion on flouridation of the town water supply was held.
It was decided that no referendum would be taken on the matter.
Clerk instructed to write State Dept. of H'ealthp Dr. Goodrich,
to determine what theft estimate of manpawer time would be to
adequately maintain this service , and also the testing procedures
involved.
Mayor appointed Franklin Karal to the street and alley committee.
Mayor- explained the condition of our streets as conveyed to him
by Howell Const. Co, A proposal was obtained from Howell con-
taining certain re coma endations and estimated costs. This report
given to the street and alley committee wihb a decision to be
made for the next meeting.
Mayor announeed tentative plans for special meeting later in
May to consider the street maintenance and also the Mobile Home
Park ordinance,
