Regular meeting, of the town council held this 14th day of
August with all councilmen present on roll call vote.
Clerk Neuhaus absent.
The minutew of the June 12, June 199 and July 10 meetings
read and approved on roll call vote unanimously.
Treasurers report presented and approved.
Warrants approved as follows:
General # 1617 thru 635
Water # 506 thru 518
Sewer ## 275 thru 278
A letter from develpers of a mobile home park on highway 3,0
west of Cedar Rapids was presented. A request was made of our
Fire Department to provide fire protection to this area upon
completion since it is outside the limits of CedarRapids.
After some discussion, the council took it under advisement
and referred same to the Fire Chief for his consideration
and report back to the council.
After contacting and requesting bids from three street contractors,
namely Mannatt of Brooklyn' Pelling from Iowa City and Howell
from Cedar Rapids, only Howell submitted bids.
On motion by Strang and second by Shakes are, it was unanimously
approved to accept the bid of Howell Const. Co. identified as
#1 Proposal in the amount of

Shakespeare reported that the Fluoride equipment was placed in
operation Aug. 16 by State Department of Health officials..
Ronald Burger, com-�ander of Pekomy :Post 5729 requested permission �
to transfer the Club Beer permit to the Kurtz property for a
Labor Day celebration. Permission grunted if such were within
the prerogative of the oouncil which would be determined by
the town attorney. 1
A petition signed by Dean A. Hamilton, Fred 0. Mittan and Robert 1'
L, Lathrop was submitted in regard to the ,junk accumulation in
the back yard of wane Bliss. Mayor indicated he would contact
Bliss to see what could be worked out'.
Permi, lion granted Co111 Comm, Sch. LDiist. the use of torn Mall
for election on Sept. 99 1965.
A discussion of the police protection system with the Linn County
Sheriff department was held® The possibility or advisability
of more time devoted locally was me tioned in connection with
some problems of the past that might be prevented in the future.
Mayor to contact Sheriff Grant to see if a meeting could be arranged
for discussion of the situation.

dorporate boundaries and to explain briefly the future of
a program to more adequately identify areas that are now
merely done by meets and bounds, Note was taken that
the map as presented was not adcurate,
Plans and specifications of the proposed paving to be
done by Iowa Fund were presented and examined. No
