Regular meeting of the Fairfax Town Council. Yield Sept. ll, 1966

The minutes of the august 14 meeting were read and approved.
Treasurers report presented, discussed and approved.
Warrants read and approved as follows.-
General # 636 thru 647
Water # 519 thru 524
Sewer # 279 thru 264
Further discussion in regard to a fee for providing fire pro-
tection to the Cedar Terrace Mobile Home Park was held but no
action taken until, after a meeting with the owners and the Fire Chief,
Clerk reported that he had discussed the passibility of obtaining
an option to buy certain land owned by dice Barnett west of
Vanderbilt St. between Lifin & Church for the possible use of a
fire stationX site, A tract with 75' front on Vand. St. and
extending at least 150' to the west for $3,000 and two separate
parcels behind this location at $1,000 each for a total of
$5,000 were the figures mentioned with Mrs. Barnett ® It was
considered that an option was available at those figures if' the
site was desirable, No action taken at this time.
report of operation of the 18 Playground Program was read
as submitted by the dirdetor, Lynn Stailman. Said report was
accepted as a commendable report on a good program.
Clerk reported that the trees in ,front of the Clarence Gibson
property have been detemmined by the Highway Commission to be
on private property, and thus neither the Commission nor the
Town of Fairfax would have any obligation concerning �the removal,
Norman Lewis visited with the - council with a request to consider
step signs at the corner of Main 5t. with bath Reynolds & Park,
with Main 5t. being the thru street. Discussion on this matter
revealed that such signs would enhance the safety of traffic in
this area. Marshall Serbousek present to confirm this. Cleric
instructed to contact Ackley in regard to the needed ordinance
amendments,
Certain parking restrictions in various areas were discussed
with the Street & Alley Committee to investigate and report at
the need council, meeting
It was reported that California Chemical would not operate their
business in the bldg. owned by Denton hones as previously reported.
Discussion held about the feasibility of the gown purchas this
building for the purpos&X of housing the fire department, town
hall, and town maintanance building. Mayor to consult Pdth the
firemen prior to the next council meeting.
