The Fairfax Town council met in regular session this 8th day
of January, 1969
Councilmen present -6 Shakespeare , Strang, Austin
Councilmen bsent: Stallman, Karal
The minutes of the Dec. 11 meeting read and approved.
Treas. report showing a balance of $22 ,91.3.50, $15, 000 of which
is an investment , was approved,
Warrants approved as followsi
Water 546 thru 547
Sewer 297 thru 299
Regular 711 thru 720
It was agreed to pay Russell Carver,, Fire Chief, the price of
a tank of gasoline as reimbursement for his trip to Reinbeck
with Strang, Neuhaus & Stallman to view fire equipment .
The following items approved in separate motions duly made,
seconded and unanimously carried:as
1. Fairfax State Savings Bank depository for Town funds in
the aggregate of $1009000
2. Wm. L. Serbousek appointed Town Marshall with no compensation.
3* Warren Ackley appointed as Town Attorney.
4. D. C. Neuhaus appointed town clerk with annual salary $500
in lieu of ordinance provisions.
5. Evelyn earver appointed town treasurer with annual pay of $120.00
6* Russell Carver named Fire Chief and also custodian of the fire
station with pay for the later at $120.00 per year.
9. Ronald Stallman appointed representative as Civil Defense for
Fairfax,- and his pay to be $3.00 per meeting.attended.
81 Stallman, and Stuang to the Street -& Alley Committee.
It was noted that the bonds of Mayor, Mayor Pro tem, Clerk and,
Treasurer are in proper effect and have one more year to run on
what was originally a two year bond.
It was moved, seconded and carried that the regular council meetings
would be conducted the second Wednesday of each month at 7 ,00 P)f.
Mayor reported that bids from Loomis and Blahnik on renovation
of the Furniture Store build�..ng were not received. A review of
Allied Contractors bid and that of Schoff Con t. were reviewed
and discussed in some detail.

The following appropriations for the year 1969 were made
on unanimous approval of the council. These appropriations
are identical with the amounts estimated as expenditures in
1969 as per the adopted budget of August 1968.
