February 12 , 1969
Regular meeting of the Fairfax town coun,ll held this 12th
day of February, 1969 with all councilmen prosent on roll
call,
The Minutes of the January 8 and February 8 meetings were
read and approved,
The treasurers report was presented and approved.
Warrants approved as follows:
water dept . 548 thru RIA 554
sewer dept. 300 thru 302
regular 721 thru 728
Report of Betty Audtin on the audit of the %yor's docket
and the Clerk' s receipts to the Mayor as reflected in the
town receipts for fines collected and deposited to the general
fund showed that the Mayor had over paid 14.00 for the year.
This amount will be Oefunded Mayor Zenisek to balance the books.
The dock showed fines of $900.00 and he had turned in $004.00.

Zenisek reported to the council his meeting with Loomis Const,
Co. and also the meeting with Blahnik onst® Co.
Loomis gave a rough estimate of costs to renovate the Furniture
Store building to be used as a combination fire station-maintenance
bldg. coming up with an amount of $159600.
Blahnik didn't actually put his estimate in dollars, but indicated
that xx in his best judgment, the costs of renovation would be
prohibitive when compared to alternatives such as new building.
After much discussion by the council on this matter, and in
consideration of the previous reports of similar n1ture , the
following motion was made by Shaakespeare and seconded by Strang:
Having been advised on estimated costs of renovation of the
building owned by Benton Jones in regard to conversion for the
purpose K a cob bination Fire Stat/Xon - Naintenance Building,
and finding these estimated costs to be in the vicinity of'
$15 ,000 to $21,000, Benton Jones is to be notified that the
option granted to the town for the purpose of purchasing the
said building is rescinded.
On roll coil vote, said motion was approved.
in an effort to reimbQrse Jones for a portion of his expense
of keeping the building off the market for the towns benefit,
the clerk was instructed to inquire as to what the real estate
taxes on this praperty are , with the decision as to what to
pay Jones being decidedat a later meeting®
The Official Budget Report to the Io wa Highway Commission
consisting of FDrms N :® 3AI 3B, & 4 was presented and approved
for filing,

Clerk instructed to inquire of Congressmen Culver's
office the feasibility of the Town of Fairfax obtaining
any greets or aid in regard d t "open paces ' program
and/or in regard to the construction of a public facility
such as a fire station vomples.
Mayor Zenisek indicated that he would ld make inquiry
about the possible availability of the playground area
now owned by St. Patrick Church in light of the recent
announcement that the school would not open in 1969,
Richard Flaherty pr :sent to discuss new building ideas
with the council. It was the council 's opinion that
some inquiry should be made to an architect prior to
any definite action taken , and Flaherty indicated thg
since he knee some local architects, that he would visit
with some and determine what some initial costs woul d be
for professional services
