Regular meeting of the Fairfax Town Council held this l2th
day of March 1989 witA all cuuncilmen and Mayor present .
The mthutes of the Feb. 12 meeting were approved.

An agreement with the Lino County Engineers department
pertaining to maintenance of town strects was approved,
5ubjest to the County approving aarw . ThiF agreement provides
for certain work to be done at a stipulatad rate for manpowei.

Notion by Thakespeare nn4 seconded b, Strang approved to
Denton Jones 150.00 for the option granted the Own in regard
to the tentative purchase of the Yetai Duilding uKned by Jones
on Railroad W

The Murphy land on the n9rth side of Linn St. and just west of
the playgro4nd is for salo, but the vwncr5 did not price it.
Nehhaus reported on the ingairy made to Congressman Culvers
office in regard to any possible financial aid regarding open
spaces or a town hall/Tire station comp les, The dept . of HUD
will guarantee a market under a public facilities loan if
bonds are sold and not purchased in the open m arts t . There is
no Wcement of sahsidy in this regard Dnd the debt would still
count as general obligations.
There would possibly be some grant if the tcwn were ",D develop
a park or recreational area under the open spaces program.
After a discussipn with Town Attorney Ackley, it was Wermined
that the Win was prepared to publish as necessary the notice
for adoption of thz Hunicipal Code. April 9th, 1969 at 7:30 PX
was determined to be the time for hearing ana the clerk and
Kwn attorney were instructed to complete the necessary publications.
A Class B Beer Permit , Cigarette Permit xnA applications by
Hazel Benesh was approved pending the filing of necessary bonds,
fees and surporting paptra effective April 15 1960 . The business

of all necessary bond and liability insurance documents,
the same to be forwarded to the lowq Liquor Control Commission.
Said motion approved on roll call vote (unanimously apprcved)
Clerk reported that Iowa Fund , 1= 1 had notified him
that they were thinking of exercising an option on certain
Viand lying north of the W N. V. RP, east of the quarry
and West of the lagoon. Said option is contaLned in an
agreement between the town of Fairfax and Iowa Fund dated
containing items otherwise pertinent to the
constructTA of the Sanitary Sewer System.
After some discussion on this matters it was agreed that
no action would be taken at this timd.
Further discussion pertaining to the tentatHe building
program for a fire station. It wa3 agreed that the services
of an architect should be YvQstig aye d, since it was
appavent that the council was not cipable of determining
design of the building, nor tho other documentation that would
be necessary to have prior to the bidding anl letting of a
contract. Hayur indicaled that he would make sDme contact ,
with the help K Richard Flaherty, and attempt to meet with
possibly a Mr. Kopecky, and then convey this information back
to tho council at the next meeting.
